Since it is going to be a couple months before the new marine dex is out, I figured I would halt any further work on that army until I knew what options are allowed.
Enter my very old eldar army that has been delinquent until I found all of my missing bits in storage.
I am building a farseer jetbike and 5 warlock jetbikes for a single squad using shining spear legs and control panels (why the hell would eldar use those lame handlebars?).
This is the farseer jetbike so far. A bit of 'greystuff' work to blend the vanes into the bike. I like the three wraithlord vanes, but am not so sure about the two tiny wraithlord blades I have perched on top of the jet engines.
I defer to you to help discern the composition of this model. Should those stay or should they go?

Thanks for your help in advance.

That looks really nice.
My only consideration is that the front end of the actual bike looks quite stumpy, in comparison to the rest of the long, swooping limbs.
Keep it going

I love the wraithlord vanes. I hope you don't mind but I am going to copy that on one of my farseer jetbikes. Just the back vane though.
Thanks.

Thanks, but I really need opinions about those two blades on top of the engines.

It looks so good that I might have to steal the idea.

Stay. Definitely.
I'll join the 'front looks a little plain' camp, though.
Maybe putty on a farseer symbol, or a stack of gems.
Otherwise, cracking so far

I wont be doing anymore modeling on the model, I just cant bring myself to add anything more to it. You gotta know when to say when and I am afraid that those two blades brought me from "looks good" to "too busy".
The plan is to balance the front and rear out with a nice paint job on the front of the canopy.
Hopefully, that will solve the problem.

I´m with Insaniak on the "stay" side. They tie in nicely with eldar aircraft designs.
Also, it should look fine with a good paintjob, and if you think it looks busy, just think about this: That farseer has had a few thousand years to decorate his ride. Don´t you think it´ll be bling as Lord McCragge?

I would suggest using some pieces to force the front canopy forward about half an inch or less. You might also try moving the blades from the top of the engines to the front of the canopy. Other than that I could take or leave the blades on the engine cowls.

I'm in the "too busy" camp. Without them it would just look that much sleeker and eldary. They don't really serve a purpose there, so seem a little cluttering and redundant in my opinion.
Although if they stayed i think it would still look really good. With a farseer and a paintjob, I don't think you would really notice them anyway.
I agree with that paintjob up front idea, that should be good. I would be wary of painting the gems in the vanes too..might be too much.

I'm with der Wiskinator: try moving the little blades to the front of the canopy/cowling, on the horizontal plane. It will provide a sleek "front spoiler" effect generally seen on forward-swept-wing aircraft... very nice modelling, BTW.

I think the small wraithlord vanes on the engine cowlings start putting it into the "too-spiky" area that starts to look vaguely Dark Eldar-ish - I love the big vanes on the back and sides, though. Great stuff!

Generally, (and I mean this in a good way) what I am getting from what we are all saying is that this jetbike is currently "Buisness up front, party out back?" I think then that the farseer must get a mullet, and that the design on the cowl should resemble nothing other than this:

that's a really beautiful convertion. if you could get the vanes separately i would definately try this.
However, imo the small ribbed parts (no jokes please) should be covered so the vanes look to grow from the rest of the bike.
for decoration check out the farseer bike here (near the bottom) -

there is also a small tutorial on the site to show how easy it is to do decorative plates like these.

a note on super sculpey - IT'S GREAT & CHEAP - i'm currently building my own great unclean one, forgeworld styley. should only cost £10 including the gas for cooking the stuff! ( btw i cook each layer for 15 - 20 minutes at gas mark 2 for those of you who don't have a temp gauge on their ovens)

Good idea, do you mind if I copy it.
I would prefer to have just one set of vanes, the center ones, and keep the old vanes at the sides.

if you really want to get into a farseer jetbike like that, make it from a vyper. I saw one where the farseer was standing on the back directing the army as he flew around.

Looks great. I think the blades are a bit busy. Great idea with the wraithlord bits. Quick question... did you try the vanes pointed in the otherdirection? I think that would give it a more dynamic feel. Still, this is a great piece of work and i will be sur eto remember/steal it when I am picking up eldar again.
