There is alot of speculation in my group that you cant consalidate into another squad if you wipe out the squad you assaulted. Some one please tell me this is not the case. I know you cant considate into a squad thats locked into hand2hand already. I really wanna build a orc assualt force but i sure wont if i cant reaak havok in some one lines and instead have to stand there as (umans shoots us).

any help would rock

It is true, if you win a close combat and score a consolidation move that would put you into contact with an enemy unit, you must STOP the move 1" away and NOT in combat with the new unit.

You may however consolidate any direction you chose, so perhaps into cover or out of rapidfire range would be a good choice!

Another alternative is to have many units assaulting the enemy lines in a coordinated attack instead of relying on one Uber-CC unit to try and wipe out all the enemy units.

That which does not kill us, makes us stronger. That which kills us, makes us stronger. We are the terror in the night, the shadow in the warp.

Rockit is correct. It's right there in black and white on page 40 of the Warhammer 40,000 5th edition rulebook under the heading 'Consolidation'.

defeat. It would seem that stupidity is as eternal as war.'

Yes, its true. Small, weak assultsquads are dead meat.
Orks will be doing just fine with their massive horde that can assult more then 1 unit at a time and survive if they gets shot up for a while.
