Anything not within 18" of a target will run, any vehicles will get crumped on first contact with a MC (including skimmers now!). Hive tyrants play it safe and use the MC wall to stay alive as long as possible. Tyrant guards are there to guarantee 4+ cover to the hive tyrants by hiding behind a bigger carnifex and making 50% of the unit be out of LOS. Scuttle, Without number gaunts are there to guarantee home quarter objectives are at the least contested. Remaining 80 gaunts surround the MCs and protect them from charges.

At higher point levels, you can add more defensive upgrades to the Tyrants and heavy fexes, or just keep adding gaunts.

Nidzilla always makes me crazy because it can be hard as nails with a take all comers list. Against vehicles the MCs go for assault, against assault the wall backs up while putting out 72 reroll to hit reroll to wound S5-S6 shots.

So, what beats this at 1500?

Although taking out both Tyrants won't be easy, that should be top priority for any seasoned player. When they both go, so go the gaunts.

True, and that gives the opponent a fighting chance at claiming objectives and winning, which we don't want. This army is about blatantly crushing any opposition and maybe making the opponent quit 40k altogether.

Perhaps some gaunts would best be replaced with minimum stealer units to reduce the reliance on synapse. Or just bump the tyants to 2+ saves and 3 guard each.

Update for further thoughts on not wanting to play 40k anymore:

2 x Hive tyrant, 2 x TL Devourer, +Str, +BS
6 x Carnifex, 2 x TL Devourer, +BS
4 x 6 Genestealers, Scuttle
1 x 8 Spinefist gaunt, Without number
1 x 12 Spinefist gaunt
1500 pts even

DoW deployment, if you get 1st turn - 2 squads of stealers square off 18" from the enemy deployment and scuttle to 12". Remainder of scuttle units go into reserves for flanking deployment from the sides. MCs drive up the center of the table in a traditional phalanx. The without number gaunt tries to get killed early to hold rear objectives later. The remaining gaunts are on last minute assault screen duty.

Beat it? Mech eldar/tau. Not too hard to stay 18" away with skimmers/bikes/JSJ armies.
