Too cheesy? Suggestions?

I Love the Karchev model and the kodiaks seemed to compliment his low focus. Kovniks and Drakhun looked to me to be amoung some of Khadors best and the monkey wrenchers are there just to keep Karchev alive...

I'd think you may want some ranged support from Destroyers, but the Kodiaks are pretty cool too and efficient for "getting there".

I've just started using the MoW Kovnik and he is beastly if you can get him to charge. Your biggest problem is that the Drakhun wants to (and can) charge in ASAP, while the rest of your army advances rather slowly. Though you can use Tow to whip the Kodiaks into melee to get a boost.

Strong and slow. The Khador way. I like it. I would run this list and laugh as puny cygnar lightning and menite fire does nothing more than scorch my paint. Might not win %100 of the time, but you'll lose with style when you lose. Everybody knows that it's better to look good than feel good.

Thought begets heresy. Heresy begets retribution.

Kodiaks are a great fit with Karchev, the Mechaniks help Karchev's durability, and the Drakhun is good in any list. The only pieces I disagree with are the Kovniks.

You're not using them to Jack Marshall, and their ranged attacks aren't that impressive, so you must want them for their melee damage and slamming ability. If so, I recommend dropping a Kovnik for an Ogrun Bokur. He has Reach, can Slam, is faster, has comparable durability, and can put out much more melee damage. If you drop the Mechaniks to a minimum unit and drop both Kovniks, you can put in two Bokurs, although that might make the Mechaniks a little too fragile.

Ultimately, I think you were fine on melee before adding the Kovniks. I'd add some shooting to help deal with infantry swarms. Dropping the Kovniks for 2 Mortars and a Manhunter puts you at 499.

@500 I'm thinkin... how big can the swarms be? at 750 I would add Widowmakers and Mortars. @500 I can only see the Mortar fire missing like bombard fire... Am I wrong?

I love the Kodiaks. If I got a Khador army, it would include Karchev and two of 'em.

I agree that you probably need a bit of anti-infantry instead of the extra melee.

Infantry swarms at 500?
I regularly run 500 pt Skarre lists with 30 warrior models, a good chunk of which are weapon masters.
And I don't even max out on the Bane Knights. In fact, I only have 8 of 'em.

Eventually, you will see infantry swarms. Protectorate, Cryx, and Legion do this particularly well. It stems from the fact that they all have very good and/or cheap infantry combined with cheap and useful light/lesser Jacks/Beasts and good infantry-support Casters.

The Kodiak's relatively good maneuverability and Steam Venting ability will help, but I'd add something else that was dedicated to taking out the infantry if I were you.

EDIT:
Mortars and Bombards are supposed to miss. Its their relatively good blast damage that will help you take out the swarms, or at least put big holes in their formations.

I agree with Oomie and Blue Loki. You want some AOEs in this list to deal with swarms, and some ranged in general. 2 mortars and a manhunter (to protect the mortars) will go a long way in that regard. Even if you never hit anything, I find that mortars intimidate opponents and they start deploying differently knowing you have 'em. Use that to your advantage, especially with that tight beatstick of Big K, 2 Kodiaks and a Drakhun.

Thanks all!!! Ample food for thought... I'll have to try and get a closer look at the lists people are running at my club... I think we have about 16 people playing WM and to date I've only seen a handfull of their lists. Most are noobs like me but I know there are one or three power gamers in the mix...

Thanks again

I wouldn't worry about power gamers. Come up with a list that's competitive, fun and made up of figs you want to play. The above recommendations gives you that and allows you to play against a variety of armies.

Absolutely. Don't tool your lists specifically with power-gaming or anti-power-gaming in mind. Just try and make something balanced that can handle all sorts of different situations. And most importantly, make a list that's fun to use.

People talk about power game lists all the time, but you usually only see them at tournaments, and even then you don't see them all the time. I think most people just want to play with the models that they like.

I'm a Khador newb, so for what it's worth ... Kodiaks obviously get the love because of mobility and focus savings, but Kodiaks need help as an assault engine. You can have a complimentary army based around your current list and the Butcher of Khardov. Khardov with his melee-centric spells and trait allows you to build another "Khador Buzzsaw" army varient....slow but powerful. You need Kodiaks in the Butcher's list to help him with more imprtant things like rage and scaring the poop out of the other army (The Kodiaks to be used for containment and flanking).

I mention this because while Karchev lets you lead from the front, the Butcher may be more suited to your style if your enemy is not feeling the hate with Karchev. I prefer the Butcher only because he gives you a few more tactical options than with your guy, but both armies would play similar.

My feedback to this list is to take a look at the Butcher and refactor the list above. Personally, I like to mix it up with different casters when I play against my friends. The Karchev model is indeed sweet.

Fun list.

One of the best pieces of tactical advice I saw was on the Battle College, in their tactics 101 section (actually applies to any game with so called 'killer' list combos). To sum up, while everyone talks about certain crazy killer assassination combos, those are RARELY going to work. Practice and playtime (almost) always trump theory.

(this doesn't mean you should take a list of all marauders and mekaniks or the Devil Dogs maxed out, but I'm just sayin').
