I hope by that you mean, "Away to pre-order from my LGS!" or, at worst, "Away to pre-oder from The Warstore!" and NOT, "Away to pre-order direct from GW!"

Ordering from The Warstore nets you a discount and ordering from your FLGS helps them stay in business.

Well, to be fair, GW stores that do poorly also go out of business, which puts those employees out of a job. If that GW helps you (teaches you to paint and play, gives you a place to game...etc) I think you should buy from that GW too.

I know all GW stores vary in quality, but so do FLGS.

...and ordering directly from GW helps support the Oppressive Iron-Thumb of Tyrrany that they keep pressed upon the jugular of the gaming industry.

: )

If you order from GW, they get 100% of the profit from the order. Buy from someplace else and GW only gets the wholesale price.

Interestingly, GW as a whole still makes more money when you choose to buy from a trade account (internet or FLGS) and not from their retail chain. Typically their trade department consists of a dozen salesmen whereas the retail chain is 5 guys per store (multiply by x depending on which country you're from,) plus all the upper management, plus the cost of operating in a mall/streetfront location.

Yeah but this thread is about the GW webstore pre-order, from which GW would net the entire profits. Not that I care, but it is nice to support your LGS.

Me personally, Neal has about $144 clams headed his way for a few of these.

I'm all for someone other than GW getting all of the profits.

IT really should always be:

1) YOUR LGS
2) THE WARSTORE/FRP GAMES?/YOUR INTERNET DISCOUNTER OF CHOICE
3) GW Directly

I guess if a GW store IS your LGS, have at it!

And if the GW store goes out of business, how will we get those reliable rumors from our local Redshirts?

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

Ordering a starter box is not a moral issue. Why try to make it one?

True. Pushing your own ethical agenda is just as unethical.

For me, my local GW store is my FLGS and frankly, they've done more than enough for me as a gamer for me to remain 100% loyal to them. I know they have to get bonuses for Black Reach boxes they sell, but frankly they deserve it.

How does ordering from Games Workshop help World of Warcraft?

Penetrating so many secrets, we cease to believe in the unknowable. But there it sits nevertheless, calmly licking its chops.
