I went out and bought Wings of War - Dawn of War, the 4th game in the Wings of War series made by Fantasy Flight Games.

It is an exellent little WW2 flight game. Definetly a beer-and-pretzels game that last 20-30 minutes per game.

My friends and I were playing and thought "hey, wouldn't it be cool to adapt this game to use Epic/Aeronautica models?".

And so we did. Planes are represented by cards in the original game and it took less than an hour online to find pictures and make our own cards. On top of the card we attached a model and Presto!

The best thing is that you only need 6-12 models, maybe 16 if you really waht to go allout.

"Why not just play Aeronautica?"

Because a game last 20-30 minutes max. and you can carry the entire game, including models in less than a shoebox. An nice little game to bring on your holiday.

Don't really know if this is the right place for this kind of post, but I just wanted to share.

You know, that's not a half bad idea. My 7 year old loves that game. Have you ever played Aermnautica Imperialis? How long does it take, the usu. 4 hours for a GW game?

I've also had the idea for a while to use some old Epic minis in a Ad Mech 40k force, but not sure. Had someone at a GW store tell me that they didn't think it was a good idea, b/c people would "get the modes confused". Sounds like a bunch of crap to me.

It is of course depending on the size of the game. But 2-4 hours is the usual fare IMO.

Naturally GW would discourage you from using "their" models in another game.

But using their models in their game is way to expensive for my taste. So I use their models (and a lot fewer than GW recommends) in another game.

Most AI games that I´ve played have lasted 90 minutes - 2 hours.

Granted, this was not using huge amounts of mini´s, but once you get the rules down, it gets a lot faster.

(We use about 8-10 minis per side.)

I´d love to check out this other game thoug, sounds like fun. Thanks for the tip.
