OK this is a bit of an odd rule but one that I feel should be taken up

Scatter dice should be rolled out of a tumbler ... the reason I say this is that I've be rolling huge numbers of them recently, and I've noticed a floor in their design ... Basically a scatter die has a hit on 2 opposing sides. if you roll with the hit on top, straight on, you're more likely to get a hit ...
... To demonstrate I will now roll a Scatter die (and 2 Dice) and record the results
Miss (2,2) hit (1,4) miss (5,4) hit (2,4) hit (6,1) hit (3,5) hit (3,5)(yes odd but that's chance)
miss (6,6) hit (1,1) hit (4,5) and so on ...

I don't cheat and I don't like cheats so I simply must roll from a tumbler (so I'm never tempted to get that much need hit)

many thanks -Tri-

any thoughts? seen some one do this?

And so on? How many rolls did you do? I wouldn't consider 10 rolls a large enough sample to really draw conclusions about how you're throwing the dice. I really am not seeing how rolling with your hand or out of a tumbler would be that much different, unless you're intentionally trying to make a controlled throw, which would be difficult to do surreptitiously, if it is possible at all.

.... well i stoped at 31 and have them recorded i'll post them if you realy want ...
...continued...

hit (1,1) Hit (6,6) miss (1,2) miss (2,2) hit (6,3) miss (4,2C)
hit (3,1) miss (2,1) hit (3,2) hit (4,2C) hit (2,2)
hit (3,4) miss (4,6) hit (2,3) miss (2,3) miss (1,4)
hit (6,6) miss (4,1) miss (2,1) miss (2,5) hit (3,2)
C = cocked

18 out 31 is better then 1/2 the time... and odds wise it should be about 1/3 ...

... yes i know i should do this like 1000 times to get an accurate reading but realy would any one bother A) to do that B) would any one read that ?

also its quite easy to do put the dice in your hand shake them till the hits on top, roll ... it is very easily done and unless you look out for it you'd just think the rollers a lucky sod

No, just the numbers of hits and misses should do. The other dice aren't the problem right? I don't think it is necessary to even list those.

I'm confused, you're saying that you're concerned about someone using a controlled throw. Is that how you threw the dice when you tested it? Have you compared this to throwing the dice out of a tumbler? If you think you're doing controlled throws, you'd probably need to do all this with several scatter dice to have any meaning. I would say more likely the dice themselves aren't true. There is an interesting article here on just that I believe, but done with Chessex dice instead of GW scatter.

yep these results are on 1 scatter and 2 Dice beng roll with a semi controlled throw

basicly your only trying to roll the dice on 4 sides turning a 2/6 into a nearly 2/4 (nearly cause its still random and may bounce)

i've only tried this with 3 dif. scatter dice but it seems to works with all.

true only need to list the hit / no.rolls but i was also seeing how close i'd be hitting on the misses (BS3/4)

also could you repost the link? i would like to read
