I need someone to help me fluff up some fluff for my SM chapter, like brainstorming or sumthink'.

Here's what I have thought so far: They are a Chapter, second founding, but from a chapter that wasn't very nice, like chaos one or one of the missing two. And anywho, some crazy asses decides: "Hey lets take XXXX gene-seed and make a chapter" (roughly ofc) And thus the Chapter was born. But they are troubled by they're heritage, feeling guilt and shame. So they seek to redeem themselves or sumthink like tha'. But at the same time some unorthodox things occur in the chapter, or peeps acting not very SM ish, but still loyal to the Emp .

So what I would like is, which Legion does my marines come from? And some general fluff ^^ They're "theme" or what you should call it, is Varnished black shoulder plates and helms, (with Metallic Trimming) Regal Blue and Enchanted Blue on the armor pieces, and also some Red Gore details (Ork heritage from myself ) And they are based upon heavy weapons and heavy support.

Heritage:
Second founding= obvious
Traitor geneseed = :S I don't think pure traitor geneseed would be used
lost legion geneseed = :S why? to make em special? if you didn't want to decide about geneseed you could take this.
suggest: go for a loyal geneseed and use the appropriate dex or go for the cursed founding (about 23th).
If insisting of traitor or partly traitor geneseed,you have to give some reason for that!

Forget the "crazy ass decided" idea! Founding of SM chapter is a process restricted to the highest leaders of the Imperium.
No non-SM behaviour! For strict and conservative marines go loyal.For crazy and insane action get renegades and chaos.

Ofc I'll decide for the Emp. But the thing is that before the heresy many of the "Traitor" Legions, we're kind ass legions, 'cept for Angrons and Lothgars . I was thinking second founding of the Iron Warriors, and if that 'cause an upstir I'll choose them to be a 2nd founding for the unknown legions. Now I don't know much about those, gif more fluff!!

Before heresy,every legion had enough ressources to field whatever useful to achieve victory.
The primarchs influenced the art of war a legion was fighting,so some legions used fewer vehicles as others.
Option 1: Iron Warriors = great at siege and fortify
Option 2: Imperial Fists = able defenders,stood watch over terra

Well I think it's gonna have to be Iron Warriors, though mine looks nothing like 'em....hmmm I'll just have to get back to you. I know I can post some pics and then you can look and see what you think?

That's the general theme, should be noted that the gold things, are suggesting this dude is of a higher rank, the normal rank-and-file looks different. And ofc I'm gonna post pics of the minis aswell^^

Is there any reason to use black and blue as main colors? I don't see a direct link to the name or their predecessor chapter,so
its your favourite scheme?
What i can see, is that you have a chosen a rare combi (black+blue) for painting,makes them always outstanding

Maybe you try to use some bionic parts (available for Iron Hands as box) to get your chapter more like IW without losing too
much if the new dex (october) changes something what you already built.

Well for the color scheme it was just a matter of no big plan behind it. And thanks for the CC, I'll make a thread in Modelling&Painting, well yeah and the bionics looks really good for me too, one of the Vets have a bionic arm

You said that you want it to be based around heavy weapons and vehicles I think you should use Iron Warriors. Iron Warriors don't really like close combat, because seeing as they're siege experts, they just use huge amounts of firepower. Also I believe they use quite a few vehicles. Seeing as they are obssessed with technology, doing stuff like changing their body parts for mechanics and stuff I think it will give huge converting options. The story wouldn't go with you wanting them to be second founding, but you could say that were just loyalist Iron Warriors in the Horus Heresy and they left Perturabo. They used their geneseed to create the Dark Mirrors, the name was because they hide behind a mirror to reflect their previous guilt and shame of the Heresy. You might also want to use Traits. Scions of Mars would suit the Warsmith idea behind the Iron Warriors.

I almost don't know where to start.

I like the color scheme that you came up with. A comment was made to the effect of "why don't you have a color tie back to the parent chapter?". Not necessary. Some chapters do it but look at the Crimson Fists, no color tie back to the Imperial Fists although there is a symbol and name link. The Black Templars have neither a color link, name link or symbol link.

I'm going to sound a little harsh but bear with me. I'm not a fluff nazi (check my sig) but you've got some ideas that don't sit well with most people with even a modicum of interest in the fluff.

1) The Second Founding has been pretty well set in stone as to what chapters were created when the legions were split with the notable exception of a small group of chapters coming from the Ultramarines that have been specified but never identified. Claiming to be a Second Founding chapter is usually considered by most people to be something to be avoided.

2) The Second Founding ONLY applies to the Loyalist legions after the Horus Heresy had been put down. The High Lords of Terra were afraid of the power of the Legions and Robout Guilleman of the Ultramarines proposed this measure to mollify them and prevent any other potential action that might result from the paranoia of the HLoT. The Traitor legions were not in any way, shape, or form involved with the Second Founding.

3) Marine chapters are not created using stored Traitor geneseed. There are rumors that this may have been done in the 13th (Dark Founding) or the 21st (Cursed Founding) but GW has never confirmed this although I personally believe that IF this was done it was only in the secrecy of the Dark Founding and not the Cursed, which got it's name from the problems that each of the chapters had due to the only attempt at modifying geneseed by the AdMech.

As far as developing fluff for your chapter, the best resource that I've found anywhere is a thread over at B&C that tries to steer people away from some potential pitfalls in chapter development as well as giving the process some structure

While I don't agree with a couple of items (and I mean really disagree, just look at my sig ), on the whole they have the process bang on. You can't go wrong by following their lead.

In the end this is your chapter and you're the only one who has to be happy with what you create. If you want to try and fit in with the world that GW has created and we all love, then your fluff needs some work. If on the other hand you like your idea, you need to be aware that the concepts that you've mentioned don't mesh well with the established fluff (canon) and that a lot of people will take issue with it. Yes, you'll find people who will be 100% supportive but this is not particularly helpful if you're really trying to get your fluff to mesh with canon to some degree.

If you want take the rough road of going against canon, be prepared to take some guff over your ideas. You'll need pretty thick skin. I know, I've done it in spades for years. Female marines are generally not accepted and neither are loyalist traitors (similar to chapters based on traitor geneseed but different). I've fought the first battle since the end of 40Kv2 when I first got into 40K and created my first chapter; and I've fought the second battle for over 9 years with my Loyalist Emperors Children trying to redeem their soiled honor. If you really like your idea, then go for it. It's not even close to canon but it's yours. If you're only lukewarm on the idea and/or want to have people accept it, then read the thread at the link above and give it another shot. I look forward to seeing where you go with this idea.

Their black color comes from their first Marshal (former emperors champion Sigismund / Imperial Fist SM).
BT have kept the color of their first leader
