Harpies - 55

Witch Elves - 255
x18, Full Command, Banner of Murder (25), Witchbrew (25)

Black Guard - 265
x15, Full Command, Standard of Hag Graef (35)

TOTAL: 2249

Two frenzied units with two hand weapons (one with poison and armor piercing, to boot!), a tough-as-nails Black Guard unit going first if they're charged, a character who can stand with the best of them, fair magic defense, and some serious cover fire, plus four highly mobile units.

Thoughts?

i like the list a lot. it has sizeable units of spears and black guard, both are good things. however you on;y have one character and no hydra. i know the hydra is kinda cheesy, but it's also one of those things that is just too darn good to not use it. i think at least one is a good idea. however if you don't want complaints about it then don't take the thing. i do think you need another character however, at least an assassin, but another hero would be nice. as is those spears are going to run if they get hit by anything of decent size/strength at all. they need a character or BSB nearby to really be useful, unless your going for speed bumps, and in that case why not just go for the MSU units of 10, and take 3 instead of 2.

Ha! I love how one of Bastrious's first comments is "you have no Hydra." Because honestly, it was one of my first thoughts as well. I guess that goes to show that the new hydra is the broekn, when a list without it seems strange. (I knew assassins weren't characters per se; I missed the part where sorceresses weren't either.)

This list is as traditional as a very traditional thing indeed, and I am extremely happy that it is possible to build such a list with the new book. My theory is that the new rules will only improve the performance of traditional lists like this. Let me know how it does after a couple of games. Me, I have been afflicted by the "ooh, shiny!" syndrome, and have been playing with lots of new builds instead. It'll wear off, I'm sure.

Hellebron on Manticore FTW!!

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

Over the next few eeks, I plan to run both this and my 'Menagerie' list a few times and compare notes. See what works and what doesn't, then mix and match.

Oh, yeah, I was meaning to ask: how can you call it a menagerie list when it doesn't have a manticore?
