This came up in a local game, and so far it seems like the 5ed rules are pretty unclear on the matter. Basically an IC ends up failing leadership and falls back next to a squad that is not falling back. From here, can the IC join the squad if he is within 2" during the movement phase? The section of the rules regarding ICs joining units does not mention anything about falling back at all. Further, the section of the book about falling back says nothing about ICs. If the IC can join the unit... does he continue to fall back? Does the whole unit?

This seems like a bit of a mess as far as the rules are concerned, so seeing how people would play it may be the only option for now.

It specifically states on page 48 that IC's can not join or leave a unit if either is in CC or is falling back.

Sorry dude,... no loop hole here.

Indeed. Seems we managed to miss the obvious while looking through that section. Sorry for the silly post.
