I dunno...I'd suggest trimming down on the fat and focusing on the rock'ard Plaguebearer blocks.

First off, I'd drop the GUO as 4th level mage. That's an awful lot to pay for 2 dispel dice, and it's not like he's going to be getting magic off vs. folks who came ready to fight skaven, tzeentch or Teclis. Also, I think the Staff of Nurgles need to go, you aren't going to have an insane magic phase as Nurgle, and in WHFB a mediocre magic phase is precisely as good as none at all, and costs a lot more.

Next off, I think Epidemius has got to go. His count is cool, but unlikely to come up much before you start breaking units, and he lacks Locus of Nurgle, which is crucial to making plaguebearers rock solid.

I'd also drop the Beast of Nurgle on the basis that it isn't quite sturdy enough without unbreakable to justify all those points. I'm not entirely certain on this one though.

I figure your basic unit of battle, as a nurgle list, ought to be a Herald on Palanquin with slime trail, in a big plaguebearer unit with the standard that makes poison wounds count double. You can get 3 of these units and the GUO in 2250, with enough points left over to grab a banner of some sort (I suggest that the GUO and the 3 Heralds be first level mages for defense, with maybe the Great Standard of Sundering in the mix).

Your basic gimmick would be that you don't give up points. With 3 super fighty blocks and a GD, all of which regenerate, you just stride across the field and kill whatever doesn't flee, then win by however much you got.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

I understand where your coming from with the GUO and the lvl 4, and the magic phase not being that good, but I think Epidemius's count is far too good to get rid of. Wounding on a 4+ is amazing. I'll Work on a Pure fighing list, but so far my test gaming has been vs. people with GT in mind as well, and even then they will only have 4-5 DD and 1-2 Dispell Scrolls, meaning yes they shoot down my magic at first, but as soon as I get-a-killin' I get the +2 to cast on Nurgle magic and the magic starts flowin'.

Came up with a new Combat Army :

Nurgle Daemons 2250

GUO
Level 1, Trappings (4+ Armor, Regeneration), Soul Hunger (Re-roll Failed Wounds In First Round), Stream Of Bile (s4 Breath Weapon) – 550

Epidemius – 135

Herald Of Nurgle
Level 1, Palaquin, Slime Trail (No Bonus In Flank or Rear) – 235

20 Plaguebearers
c/m/s, Icon of Eternal Virulence (Double Combat Res on PSN) – 295

20 Plaguebearers
c/m/s, Icon of Eternal Virulence (Double Combat Res on PSN) – 295

3 Nurgling Base – 105

I like Epidemius too much.

London (work) / Pompey (live, from time to time)

quick suggestion, drop a herald and 1 nurgling base and get another unit of plaguebearers, you use up way too many points on characters.
its best to make sure you have plenty of ranked up units as a main stay, all it takes is for you to get flank charged by a unit that outnumbers you and you have pretty much lost a whole unit.
you need to have enough units to keep a solid line.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

The GUO weakens your army. If you want magic defense, take a BSB Herald with the Banner of Sundering. Keep Epidemius for sure, as he makes this army broken. Stick with three units of Plaguebearers. With the points you save from your GUO, take lots of Beasts of Nurgle, as 3-4 are absolutely sick and will tear apart anything they touch, especially if you hit 8 kills. As a rough estimate, this is what I would take:

Epidemius

Herald Of Nurgle
Level 1, Palaquin, Slime Trail, BSB, Banner of Sundering

Herald Of Nurgle
Level 1, Palaquin, Slime Trail

Herald Of Nurgle
Level 1, Palaquin, Slime Trail

2 Units of Plaguebearers, full command, Icon of Eternal Virulence

1 Unit of Plaguebearers with just Banner, as Epidemius and one of your plaquin riding BSB is joining this unit and they eat up too much space for other command.

6-7 Nurgling bases

3-4 Beasts of Nurgle

Do not worry if your units are small, like only 15 strong. They don't die and the Heralds will earn you a billion combat res.

Sacrifice the scouting Nurglings into any soft-ish unit to get your kill count to 8. 2 rounds of combat is normally enough. Don't care if they die, they're just used to get your Death Star operational (Epidemius poison on 4+ ability.)

Beasts roll over units ridiculously well. But you need 3 to do it reliably. The 4th is just in case some flaming weapons/magic shoot them up.

With -2 to cast and 5 dispel dice, your opponent's magic phase won't be too hot.

Good gaming!
