This came up last weekend with my friends;

Gamer A assaulted a small squad, along with two vehicles parked next to each other. Followed all of the rules for multiple assaults.

Gamer BS squad survived, as did the vehicles. Next turn the vehicles moved away and the assault squad was strung out in a line...yet couldn't be shot. What should have happened?

Options:

A) Ignore the vehicles, pile in to the infantry unit.
B) We played it right
C) Something else I'm not thinking of

During consolidation of the next assault phase after the vehicles drove away... your models would pile into the remaining unit in the CC.

Correct.

If the vehicles had not driven away you could have assaulted them again. When they drove away in the movement phase it freed you to snuggle up during the next assault phase.

Vehicles can not be locked unless they have a WS so you have no compunction to hang out with them.

I want to make sure we don't mix terms and I don't start becoming confused (Which is easy to accomplish).

When you state 'consolidation' you actually mean 'Pile in'. I don't think I would be able to consolidate, as I'm still engaged at the far end of the line with the infantry squad (Remember, I was in combat with both infantry and tanks).

If you do mean 'Pile In', this doesn't happen until the end of an assault phase. So again, that leaves the other 8 or so members of the squad standing in a line during his combat phase (provided he drove his vehicle away).

Nevermind, I found it.

Page 63, col. 2, para. 1

'In a multiple fight including enemy vehicles and other unit types, the result of the fight is worked out as normal against the latter, ignoring the vehicles'

So, I would pile in the turn I charged, ignoring the vehicles (and even moving out of base to base with them, which kind of blows if you immobilised it)

However, what about this scenario?

X My assault unit
Y His infantry units
O His tank units

I assault like this:

YY O YY
X X X X X X

The vehicle moves away and both infantry units are still engaged...what do I do with the guys in the middle?

You have to mvoe those that can upto 6" to engage with the enemy closest to them while keeping the squad in coherency. Both conditions are mandatory (though somewhat conflicting in this scenario). It can possibly result in a couple of your guys not getting any attacks off depending on the spacing.

Now, I don't have my book with me... and have played a whopping 3 games of 5th ed, so far.. but I thought the 2" rule was still in effect, in that the models didn't "pile in" if they were within 2" of a model who was in base to base.
has that rule changed?

I had to look this up to make sure;

'After the combat has been resolved, it might happen that some models from units that did not fall back from the combat are not in base contact with an enemy. These models must make a pile-in move.'

i have a question that is relevant to this,. if my wraithlord, assaults a land raider, and immobilizes it does the land raider get to shoot at the wraith lord next turn or is it still in an assault.

i said it should prolly be able to shoot it because it didnt have a weapon skill, but im not sure since i cant move, it should of been able to fire one of its sponson weapons at the wraith lord since it assaulted from the side. is this how it should of been played?

sorry didnt eman to hijack if i did i just figured it was on topic with assulting and vehicles and such.

This question is CLEARLY answered in the rulebook.

It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. Not only is the answer in the rulebook, your assault on punctuation and capitalization impedes comprehension of your question. Please try to follow standard English rules in the future.
