The white pillars stand out a lot, maybe some staining around the midsection, yellow to green/black the closer you get to the water would make it look like molds are finding purchase on the stone?

I really do love seeing people take the time to make a good brass colour. It makes me think 'like gold, but works for a living.'
I wonder if it'd work for armour on my daughters of Khaine?
Only one way to find out!
Thanks for the interest too!

Yup the pillars are a bit stark, and blend with the white hair.
I've done with Zandri dust/karak stone as the main color and that looks a bit better.

Man this page never disappoints.
Amazing jobs all round!
Also saw these conversions put up recently on Facebook and thought they'd make great inspirational material:

Also, though this one's from December, I'm finding people who missed out on this amazing Overlord conversion into a chaos duardin. O.o

Sorry if I haven't really added my own stuff yet, too little time and too many projects with work in the way.

Can certainly spend a good while scrolling through this thread; lots of great stuff in here!
Also quite a few Kharadrons, oh aye.

Interesting you used blue as a energy color though. Wanted to stand out from the usual warpstone green?

As is with all my 40k stuff, I use blue for energy thingies, so all my warpstone is blue as well.
That JP bloke has done an incredible job of Skaven sky pirates, oh aye.
But following suit with my Morskitarii, I've gone for clean cut, proper-done high tech, just with a touch of nuttiness.

Well I certainly respect your consistency.
Clean Skaven tech is nice too, makes it easier to appreciate the design despite the messy style giving them a fitting mad scientist style.
Good luck with it!

Frigate paintjob all done and dusted. Need to sort out the weapons and crew, along with making the felt flags etc.
A real paint getting the large balloon attatched; the struts and pipes didn't want to line up.

Guardsman with Flashlight
|
Hi! Longtime Guard player, the KO sounded the horn and I answered the call. I was immediately drawn to the Barak Thryng color scheme since it was very reminiscent of how I painted my original Guard army back when I was 13
It took a little longer than I'd like to admit, had gotten so used to painting bland guardsmen I was practically overwhelmed with the amount of detail on these models
Anyways, here's my first step into KO with an Arknaut Company Captain, the photo seems to have lost a lot of detail thanks to compression

Well don't worry about the compression, the model still looks fantastic. The color scheme really goes together well!
You really knocked it out of the park with the details despite how much of a change they were for you.

Haha, the pain was worth it at least, it looks great!

Proper decent Kharadrons in abundance, oh aye.
Really nice red on the jumpsuit, Zontarz.
Brettonian helmets look absolute class on those Stormcasts.
@FWC
There's a few guids about on the 'professional look' for model photographs; basically white backdrop and even lighting.
Your pictures there have come up real decent for detail, especially on the super-close ones. Only thing I'd gripe over is the blurring on a couple, but that's rectified by having either surgeon hands, or a camera stand.
Try resting your camera (or phone, in my case) on little boxes. Stack things for the right height, etc.

Those look great, war cultist!
The brass armor and grey uniforms gives a nice contrast and makes me think they're a very no-nonsense force.
(Also, could you spoiler those by chance? The picture sizes are giving my phone a heart attack. )

Wow I've never seen a stardrake with a non-standard paint scheme. It looks a hell of a lot better in black. What happened to the wings though?

Huh, just noticed even his prosecutors lack wings.
Is it a fluff thing like they use stuff like enchanted mists to "fly"?
(Also, great 5th edition Bretonnia wallpaper. Forgot to compliment that earlier.) Automatically Appended Next Post: @Zambros
Those look fantastic.
I even really like how crisp you made the banners look.

Thanks for the advice!
@ Baron Klatz
My bad! I forgot to use the in house image loader. Glad you like them though! I was worried that they’d look like an imperial guard regiment but I think I managed to get the armour ‘sparkly’ enough to make it look fantasy as opposed to sci fi.

Thanks @ Baron Klatz, they have definitely been a learning experience! Gotta love the old school Bretonnian artwork. Oh and the the wings are off purely for transport purposes. Plus I've not had a stab at painting them yet. Much like the Stardrakes.
Yeah @ Buddingsquaw with the helmets they really make for imposing models. The extra height in some instances makes stock liberators look quite tiny!
@ NinthMusketeer I wanted to complement my colour palate, and I definitely didn't want to go white! Still a long way to go on the Stardrake but I wanted that dark glossy look to its scales. Just started on the mouth and underbelly last night. So many areas to cover. Proving quite the distraction.
I've kept the wings off for the time being so I can get to all the nooks and crannies. They will be added in a month or so I imagine!
Here's a bit more of a closeup. So much more to go :(

Here's the latest on my Daemons. Screamers all done
My current WiP is the Herald. The GS has just finished curing on his base. Hopefully some grit and some paint will even it all out.
There is a painting contest the first weekend of May, and I'm looking to enter the Herald in the Open Category. (I'm thinking I'll do some Brets for the Regiment category, the Shadespire Undead leader as my single model category entry, and a Dark Elf Manticore in for the Large Model category).
Hopefully I'll have some more painted Daemons for you soon.

Awesome sky sharks Zambro!
I’m a little worried I may have painted myself into a corner by only having one metallic colour on my Overlords. It’s the ships that are worrying me. Little late to worry though. Also, going off my sources, the only colour I could see myself using would be a sort of metallic red-brown.

Hmm, well I really like your color scheme for them.
Could you maybe make a mercenary fleet of multiple colored ships that banded together?
Could add in to your fluff that the grey uniforms are due to a merchant confederation so your privateers come from varied sources.

Why not have sections painted in the colors of your skyport?
