Has anyone used Gale Force 9's magnetized bases? What do you store army in, after basing army?
I picked some up at Gen Con. Look to be pretty nice.
Basically, I'm trying to find better way to store bikes, speeder, attack bikes and DW. Thought of using Army transports cases and running risk of breaking off pieces is more than I can take.
Army blog coming soon.

I can't speak for GF9 magnetized bases but I do use magnetized bases.
I have a metal toolbox with 3 drawers which are about 2" high. and a 6" area on top. I can store an infinite number of boyz BtB in those drawers and vehicles in the top. VERY easy for storing models. Transporting it is 'ok' but the boys to sometimes fall over. When my models became better-looking I stopped transporting models in it, but still use it for storage.
You can go to Michaels or any craft store and get a 2ft x 1ft roll magnetic sheet that you can glue bases to and razor blade around the edge. Cheap and easy.
Even if you don't use magnetic transport, it is great material to give all your models a flat base.
(also for fantasy, all my movement trays were metal... worked great!)

I love the GF9 bases. They're a little pricey, but I don't mind dropping the money for them.
They're great for tournies, I just slap the whole army on a cookie sheet, and if it gets bumped, no one falls off.

I don't like the GF9 bases. I find for Sisters (and presumably other metal models) they do not have the holding power to keep them from falling over and rattling around in transit.
Previously I had gotten a pile of 1/8" neodyium (sp) magnets from K&J Magnetics and glued two into the base, one at each end of the slot. Those worked lovely in my large wooden box with the metal bottom, keeping a very large number of girls, tanks and penitent engines in place (probably ~80 25mm bases).
Eventually, however, I got tired of carrying around a large wooden box of lead. So, I ponied up for a Sabol Motor Pool, and then another, and have been pretty happy. Your mileage may vary, depending on your models and your back.

I just picked up the magnetic bases for my beastmen. Since they all have kind of dynamic poses they'll end up taking up more space in an army transport so with the magnetic bases I plan to still use the army transport, but rank them up and pack em upright in a big square rank. Right now I just have my bestigors done, but so far they seem great. I wouldn't use them for 40k round base stuff though.. but for fantasy it seems better for ranking them up and keeping them together easier.
a lot of folks in my group use magnets. Some folks use the mini magnets under the base and sheet metal movement trays.. one guy went to a sign maker and bought a big sheet of magnet material and made his own bases with it.. so there's a lot of options out there. But I like the GF9 bases so far.

Reason I'm asking. I have Ravenwing bikes, attack bikes, and Landspeeders. Some have unique poses.
I went to Menard's (a local Wisconsin DIY home improvement store) similar to Lowe's or Home Depot. I found a nice toolbox that is lined with thin foam. I plan on using some sort of sheet metal to line top and bottom. Just trying to decide if GF9's bases are strong enough to transport without falling off inside case.

With rare earth magnets attached to the base, then yes.
GF9 and the magnetic sheeting bases don't do much for larger or heavy figs.

I haven't used the GF9 bases myself, but I have seen the and messed around with them. I honestly felt like they lack the holding power I get form my neodymium magnets I glue to the underside of the bases. Plus, you can get neodymium magnets in various strengths and sizes for different jobs. If you are curious I get my magnets from Gaussboys Super Magnets.

I've had no problems with bikes on the GF9 bases. For speeders, I just mounted a larger bases (40 or 60mm, I forget) under the flying stand.
If you're transporting them with the magnets holding them inplace (vs. putting them in a GW or Sabol case), then I can see where they wouldn't be strong enough.
