I have to say the 5th rules give a little help to shooty armies with the no-consolodation rule and running. With that in mind, how would a Chinese Army IG run these days.

Command Platoon, junior office 40
Infantry platoon 390
5 squads each with 1 meltagun
Infantry platoon 390
5 squads each with 1 meltagun
Infantry platoon 390
5 squads each with 1 meltagun
Infantry platoon 390
5 squads each with 1 meltagun
Infantry platoon 250
3 squads each with 1 meltagun

total model count is like 260 in 29 squads. Sure I could put a few more meltas in but the more cannon fodder the better.

Incoming artillery! so what? They're charging us! so what? armor! ehhh you get the picture BTW this is meant for the shere fun of playing nothing but squishies. If you want to flame, knock yourself out

Ever see the movie 300? if so this would be the fate of your army. Its just to many men and a small elite and or a horde orc could really put this army in the grave fast.

Horde orks!?!? against 500+ flashlights a turn (if stationary). ok the deathroller is complete BS and all but I could get lucky

oh and the persians WON that battle! (the war was lost thanks to the Athenians)

I realize that and hope the name that this army uses (was basically called this since a LONG time ago). hope it does not offend but this is the concept

Your talking about 500 flash lights vs ork but what you fail to grash is that LOS is going to be cut off once they reach your lines. Let alone how many squads they drag into combat once they get there. Hell if my tactical marine squad found your line, I would be dragging in at least three squads knowing what I could handle and all.

You need drop troops. Good thing Fear libbies are going away.

I actually think its a strong list. My only issue is leadership vs. shooting. A Book Cannoness and a few min sized Book Sister squads to keep everyone in line would help, they'd also bring Meltas to the party.

I play guard and the thought of having to set up, move, paint, buy, store roll dice for that many models makes me think the game would be a bit boring and definitely tooooo long. Probably very effective though.

I thought of the drop troop thing last night and yes it totally works. As for moral, you don't want them to stay around. When you lose hth you want to run and be wiped out. Put the 5-men squads up front to ensure when charged they crumble (and why they have no meltas). with some in reserve on the paratroop side, LOS shouldn't be an issue. Space em out so only one squad is assaulted and when it crumbles in their turn, you can blast em on your turn (since no consolodating into units). I'm a little concerned with vehicles so it may need some tweeking with krak grenades or more melta. The range problem could be solved with the drop troops. May even look at a demo charge unit popping in but that's 35 pts (i think) that could be 6 flashlights.

Anyone worried about painting could just buy 2 cans of green spray paint and play the old "green army man" army. (unless you played the tan side)

Glad to see some folks actually took this recommendation seriously, as it was intended, and I didn't get flamed for the name of the army concept. Thanks

Someones been watching too many movies. Soviet WWII is a more accurate depiction.

The problem I see with it is you are bleeding kill points. Each Squad is 1 kill point and so is the Command Squad of each platoon and the Junior Officer is also one kill point.

Leadership will be a problem as well. That is a pretty good idea putting small Sisters squads with books of st lucius to solve the leadership problem. Cheap cannoness with bolter and book could work too.

Sure, *most* of the time you want them to run from close combat. Having the option to tarpit, however, is always a good thing.
