According to a friend of mine, Mekboy forcefields give a 4+ cover save to any unit within 6" of the Big Mek. I know in the codex it says 5+ is the save it gives for infantry in the open, but I can't seem to find anything about it getting better than that in an FAQ on the British GW site dated 7/11/08. Just to be clear, what I am talking about here is infantry in the open, that is moving forward without going to ground that he said gets the save.
Do I need new reading glasses, a class in comprehension, or was he looking at a fan site somewhere? I haven't had much time to play more than three games or do much reading since the new rules have come out so be gentle!

Its a 5+ because thats what it says in the codex. Vehicles under the protection get a 4+ because they are only mentioned as being obscured.

agreed. it clearly says 5+ for infantry but obscured for vehicles.

the main book says any piece of wargear that gives the obscured rule to a vehicle gives it a 4+ cover save.

should be clear enough

No. You've got it all wrong.

See, what it does is give VEHICLES the 4+.
It gives "people" (anything Orkish with wounds) the 5+.
You had it the wrong way around if you're not trying to be right... or the right way around if you're not trying to be wrong.
