I was told that this most likely wouldnt work, but i think it just might
unlike a traditional campaign, the way my new idea would work is as follows:
A map (possibly simply 8x11 or any other shape or size) is drawn of a area that is sought after by who ever is participating in the campaign. On the map there are key points (refineries, tatical natural terrain areas, cities, PDF batteries, so on so forth).
Each army rolls to see which side of the map they start on. Any army may move D6 inches each round, using a normal 1" base as a marker. On each round, the army marker is moved the appropriate distance, and choose where the army goes.
If an army reaches a destination (city, mountain, whathaveyou) and no other army has reached it previous, it lays claim to the area. The area is now under that army's control. The army who controls it now is given special bonuses during each following battle.
For example, if an army claims a orbital gun battery, it may use bombardment in all following battles. If an army controllsa forrest, it gets superior terrain when fighting for that area. These terms are decided for each location previous to the game.
If another army marker reaches a destination under enemy control, the attacker may choose to attack the area or not. If not, no battle takes place. If the enemy chooses to attack, however, a battle is ensued at the appropiate destination. So, if someone attacks a city, a city fight takes place.
These battles are fought just like any normal battle.
If the attacker is successful, the defender MUST move D6 inches away next round. If the defender holds out, the atacker MUST move D6'' away in the direction from where it came.
Victory points are taken for every battle and summed at the end of the campaign.
Once an army has control of an area, the army may choose to move away, but the area stays under their control (assuming that the army is large enough to hold one position and move on at the same time)
The campaign goes on until it is over (ie everyone has been defeated or too much moral has been lost. Its the players choice)
whew!
did i miss anything? any holes that need to be filled?
