As requested, how does one make a list that starts off the board and uses warp spiders effectively.

Well, here you go.

Turn 2, most if not all of the army should show up.

That's alot of S6 fire.

A little weak to lots of AV14, but what can ya do it's got alot going for it.

Glad no one will run it.

On moon miranda.

EDIT: nevermind, didn't see the Bright Lances, was thinking EML's for some reason.

Looks nasty, but very light on Troops, and the two BL's is pretty thin for dealing with heavy vehicles, although anything AV10 or 11 is going to be very unhappy.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

This looks like it would be a blast to play, both with and against. It doesn't look terribly competitive, but with the givens you've done the best that you could. But it certainly looks like it would be tons of fun. I'd love to see what this would do to Orks.

A tiny bit more flexibility/competitive power might be added by kitting one of the Autarchs out with a fusion gun and wings or a jump generator (anti-AV14) and the other with a power weapon (give decent combat possibility to one of the DA squads, just to make your Troops slightly more likely to live). These changes are probably worth bumping one of the Spiders off for.

But good work, and fun-looking list.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Of course, it's very tweakable. I'd prefer a 3rd of the DA and I'd probably pay for a min squad by dropping some stuff to fit it in.

I see nothing wrong with dropping the spiders down to 7 or 8 figs.

Odds are you won't fire them all anyway unless you are crazy with your deep striking (and lucky).

You can make workable out of crap if you really try. Then you just need to make subpar lists better with generalship and practice.

Stelek,

The army is still no good. The warwalkers are brutal, but the warpspiders aren't going to really be effective.

I don't understand why people think warpspiders are the greatest unit around. Any time I post an eldar list(I prefer shining spears), people always say, 'add some warp spiders' and I just want to scream.

I get that 5th is all about making your opponent take saves, but he makes them and then comes over and kills you. It just doesn't work for me.

I don't think they are that effective, but in this list they're not something to trifle with.

Whether you hit or miss, you do fire what 130 S6 shots the turn you arrive (assuming it all goes well)?

That isn't exactly pleasant.

Don't forget that unlike Demons, after the Spiders Deep strike in they can warp away and get out of template formation.

No list is perfect, however:

I'm not sure how WW with about the same number of shots but at lower BS are more brutal but the spiders with higher BS aren't.

22 versus 24? Man I hope you know everyone is going to be setup to take your fire on troops with cover saves, so...

Brutal vs not really effective?

How's that work anyway?

The warp spiders have to get so much closer to be able to unleash that amount of fire power leaving them very vulnerable to assault in which they are a 1 attack, very expensive elf. Yes if your exarch makes it you can withdraw, but I wouldn't count on getting very far.

With the range of the weapon they are packing you've got to get in close. If you want to really wipe something out you've got to focus your fire on it. This means if you don't wipe out your opponent he's coming for you and you are more than likely going to pretty bunched up.

The large number of strength 6 shots coming out of this army in one turn is impressive, I simply believe that there are much better ways to get the same results.

The warwalkers are not as good at shooting but they aren't going to get downed by bolter fire provided they can keep the enemy at arms length.

How do you get 66 more S6 shots @ BS4 in an army with maxed out War Walkers? Much better? Please demonstrate, since they don't exist in the army list, I must see.

Yes they are vulnerable to assault. Helps if the enemy is dead though.

I see the Warwalkers getting shot at once by a Str4 shot and than becoming fethed.

Honestly I have become a sad man when it comes to warwalkers... they shoot something than spend the rest of the game shaken or dead... I would try something new.

I do like the idea of this list though.

Keep with the Warpspiders no one uses Warpspiders or swooping hawks and winning with them will make you feel all the better.

Use the points you get to give the DA defend and the Exarch a Power weapon and shield.. Trust me it helps them make their points back 3X.

I am a big Fastattack/ aggressive eldar player so keep with it.

The trick is the BS4. You really aren't going to see that. What you can get are lots of BS3 scatter laser shots that don't require you getting into assault range and hoping your enemy dies.

I'd run bikes with Shuriken cannons or vypers with scatter lasers and stay out of range peppering to death.

My War Walker loadout is different (EML instead) and I had my Autarchs jumping with the Warp Spiders. Eerily similar list to mine.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

EML is a valid choice, of course. I just figured if I was scouting from the sides, 36" range was good enough.

Every army can bring something unforeseen to the table.

If Eldar had teleport homers, this kind of army would be even crazier than it currently is.

You shouldn't be jumping that close to something that can assault you. Spiders usually get to pick their battles. Spray and assault (so you deny *them* the charge bonus and *you* get it.)

I disagree that they can't get very far with withdraw:

withdraw on opponents turn = 3d6" (10.5" average)
Jump = 12"

and one/some of the following:

Run (if need to) = 1d6"
Charge = 6"
Warp Jump = 2d6"

That's a 30" move that you can use to contest/clear objectives. 48" at the unlikely extreme.

Not many units faster than that.

I can appreciate some people don't like them and there are better units out there but slap some spiders down every once and a while and mix it up in his back court. He'll change things up...

Am I missing something, or are the spiders not actually equipped with surprise assault?

What about replacing the Spiders with Vypers, scatter/shuri? That would likely save some points and still pump out a good number of shots. You could invest the points in another troops unit, perhaps.
