Hi all! im really new to the forums and iv had a really warm welcome : )

Anyway i was reading last night about what Scarab was doing with his really good looking eldar and a particular object caught my attention, which as a wood elf eagle bristling with eldar weaponry. and i thought, i must try somthing like this! so i sent him a PM and he said it was fine if i blogged a simliar idea for my Iyanden Dawnhost army.

So the next morning i promptly decided to rummage around in my extensive 'bitzbox' for a selection of woodelf units that i had aquired when i started school and i found my eagle in numerous peices




I also found a pilot from my old jetbikes. i may change him later as i dont like the heads on these models and i can use the legs and simply add some body parts that were left over from my dire avengers sprue to make a better looking body.

Later to my dismay i realised that mt eagle had no feet! it would take ages looking for them so i geussed i would either remove them from my high elf ones or make them out of greenstuff. i decided on greenstuff as i had gone through too much trouble to get hold of my ulthuanic birds. Still, i am not particularly talented at sculpting, so this would'nt be easy : (

Wow, good plan, I'd like to see where this is going. If you want it to look more futuristic, have you thought of replacing the wings with swooping hawk wings, or sculpting them to look something like that?

As for the feet, you could make them out of wire. That would assist in sculpting, and would be fairly easy.l

Hi again! im in a good mood now! by a stroke of luck i found the eagle legs in a box of other items. i will display some of the things i think will be useful in the coversion.

I have decided to make my eagle playable as i Vyper. i only have one so i will make the most of it. From my wraithlord sprue i have take two shuriken catapults and i will have the main armament as a brightlance. i have slowly realised that this will be produced in quite an exodite fashion and i may use this conversion as a conerstone to a new 'feral eldar' army


at this point i realised that i had not eaten in 20 hours but no time for that :þ it is time to walk the dog. even then though i was thinking about scarabs ideas and how i could make mine unique from his but still make it look as good. i think i will sketch some prototype ideas

im back! healthy lentils for lunch and i did a quick sketch of what i intened to make, no doubt it will turn out god awful in the end xD



now i will attach the components together, hopefully i can find a clear stand a base.

please can you help me think of a futuristic eagle colour scheme that will fit in with iyanden. i rly have no idea :þ i was thinking like a grey - white like quite neutral, so i could draw the attention to the colours of the rider on top

yeh, ill get some of my army pictures up soon, 2000 points of eldar (ineed to finish two dire avengers!). I'll count this unit as a vyper but i might make the man on top removeable so it could also be a jetbike for a Warlock or Autarch. ill keep you informed, just goin to do some paint removal!

Been building up my rider and have some pics of paint removal aswell.







and below, the eagle components have no more paint on them : ) good stuff.



its considerably later in the day and im tired now lol. i'v completed the whole model with a whole lot of epoxy putty, swiss army knife usage , frustration and high elf heraldy but im sorta happily surprised at how it turned out! please remember that i am 16 so with that in mind... criticise away!

and finally, with feet. sorry if those images are blury, make what you can of them and ill start with undercoat and painting tommorow when the green stuff is all set.

Well, a day later and i undercoated - these pics are a bit clearer maybe





and then i realised i hadnt included any spirit stones so i added some greenstuff gems and ill have to re-undercoat them.

that road seems familiar, sounds weird, but im sure ive drove down it at some point 0_o

Heyall... its been a while iv had a lot of stuff goin on. just thought i'd make an addition an next will be on to painting. im also goin to drill a whole in the base for steadiness when my dad gets back. curse my lack of powertool usage!

anyway just a sketch i did on my break time at college. looks more realisticly like the model than my other one : )
