yeah,
really sweet army there, i love the idea.

not so sure about the wraith guard counts as choice though, is that a wraithlord in the middle or a spirtseer?
Also the pathfinders come acros as assualt troops... which they definently are not.

but yeah I like it!

I know I shouldn't, but that mon theme is awesome. It's obviously a nighttime army, and that just makes it cool as hell to me.

DAMN good work.

Normally I don't like Exodites being done with lots of Wood Elf bitz- but rather than going halfway, you've gone all the way and done Wod Elves with Eldar bitz. It works really well. The Harlie conversions are particularly well done, and they fit in to your army much better (visually) than Space Clowns fit in with a regular Eldar army.

And that paintjob... wow. I may have to steal that for some Alpha Legion sometime. The source lighting with the nighttime palette are a really good pair.

Interested in some commission work sometime?

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Panic, wraithguard at 10+ unit size can be fielded as a troop choice

anyway brilliant work. you really get away with the wood elf units even the ones that arnt converted

thanks for the many kind words.

the painting style was directly stolen from Adam Fridal's undead army (i saw pics of it once, it must have been used for a tourney or something).

just a couple o' things

@ Panic: the wraithlord is a treelord. i tried treemen as wraithguard, but they are to big (and more importantly to damn expensive). so in sticking with a "tree" theme the dryads won out. with the pathfinders i was looking for a more feral/ gone navtive feel than the glade guard have, also the waywatcher models are just to sweet NOT to use

@ Aduro: the color scheme certainly will not appeal to some.

@ wasserrj: "but that mon theme" what is a "mon"?

@savnock: not interested in commission work, but thanks . actually the painting style is very easy and fast. it took significantly longer to assemble the army than to paint.

once again thank you for the comments

take care,
jsa

I dig the color scheme.

Not your usual 'look it matches the GW paint scheme' junk, and I am very impressed.

Can you describe the method you used to paint this up? I really like how it pops.

thank you and sure i can describe.

basecoat black
heavy drybrush of vallejo game color (vgc) sick blue (the purpleish dark blue)
drybrush vgc sombre grey
drybrush/ paint vgc ghost grey
paint/ line vgc white
watered down purple ink covering entire model (don't recall exact mix, but leaned towards light purplish water)
highlight vgc ghost grey
highlight vgc white
testors dull coat varnish

while applying layers keep in mind direction "moonlight" is hitting model. the areas closer to the light should be brighter than those farther away. it is basically over-highlighting areas of the model. in my case the light source was from the above, slightly in front and right. the backs of the models are mostly black. i tried to imagine a line of moonlight running up from the model's left foot to the top of it's head. this is the brightest part everything fads to black from the "line".

this is a model i used for reference http://coolminiornot.com/111965

Good theme, and well done.

I've got my borther's VC army to paint and have tried some skeletons in a blue moonlit style. Not quite good enough yet so it's good to see a whole army done well.

The neat parts are the green glowies that take away the
darkness. Very awesome.

When you're fiddling with the article system, remember that
there's an article category called "Army Profiles."

hint taken, but it will be a couple o weeks before i post

i've been looking at the wraithguard a bit more and decided they need a green light. the question is where.

should it go on the spiritseer (necklace or such), dryad eyes to match the wraith-tree-lord, or both?

thanks and take care,

I really like the paint scheme you have done.

Suggestion for your jetbikes:
New DE coldones, ridden by gladeriders.
I suggest the coldones over the horses as it fits with the dinoriding exodite theme of old.

I like the DA Exarch the best, but the whole army has an awesome paint scheme.

If I recall from the fluff, don't the exodites ride giant lizards? I think I remember a Mike McVey conversion many eons ago on one. It was a battle between him and a Chaplain on a bike. Anyway, with the new Cold One riders coming out, that might be a neat addition to your force.

hi all,

after looking at the spiritseer for awhile I decided it needed to be redone. added some green source lighting and removed the blueish undercoat.

it should fit with the wraithguard better than before.

Wow, it's very different from every other Exodite army - it's different from every other Eldar army - it's different from every other Wood Elf army - and it's pretty incredible! I really love what you did with the theme. Man, that makes Eldar look really scary.
