I built my BT army in 04 and it's been awhile since I have added anything new. I have always ran a Marshall. I have decided to retire him and add two Chaplains. I need these guys done for a RTT on Sat. the 30th. 1st guy is a product of my bitz box, the other is the UM Cassius. I filed off all the UM markings but one. Hopefully it won't stick out. His Pistol arm I replaced and used a BT shoulder pad.
Here they are primed.

Nice conversions although a chaplain is not as needed with the new preferred enemy rules in 5th.

Yes, Primed white, dry brushed fiery orange, then a very thinned sunburst yellow.

I like the highlights on the helmeted chappie. Very nice. And while I know Cassius was supposed to have been maimed by 'Nids, that's an ugly, ugly mini. Your paint job's not bad - it's just an ugly mini, IMHO.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

I've been scratching my head wondering where and when I got him. I found him still in the blister when I was digging for a fig to enter into the old school challenge. When I decided I needed 2 Chaps I figured "why not".

Heh. Can't fault you there. Although, I wonder what he'd look like with a standard SM helmet...

Got an early start today, started work on the red areas
Started with a 50/50 Mechrite red/black mix
then worked with Mechrite and progressed by adding blood red
followed with a Baal red wash

Nice - Chap01 just keeps getting better and better looking. I take it you're going to go for NMM? I love the way the highlighting on the chest is turning out.

Nice blending job, you make black armour look like a viable paint scheme again, and that is saying a lot. Though with the scratch build what are your thoughts on shortening the banner pole so it looks more like a one handed weapon?

I've been on the fence with that. I'll mull that over some more.

Looking good. Some 'scripture' on the seals couldn't hurt to add that little bit of added detailing/character.

Maybe it's the lighting, but I feel like the gold of the Crozius heads need more highlights to be NMM. Right now, they still look sort of orange-y.

Not NMM, it's sheathed in a lethal haze of a disruptive energy field
and an orange disruptive energy field at that

I don't mind the orange. It really pops out against the blue.

Thanks for sharing. Somewhere a few years back I was intrigued by the highlight black with various blues for my Ulthwe' army. It's cool to see someone else doing the same thing. The only nitpick is the orange on the Crozius. It may have been better detailed with shading and some highlights.

Between the two, I prefer the scratchbuilt one, but both turned out very cool.

Let us know how the tourney went.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Nice work on the highlighting the black. I skipped the Black Templars because I could not find a eye pleasing way to highlight the black armor that is also feasible in a army scale.

The scratch built minister is also my fav, it has a lot more character than the other guy. The orange force field could use some more shadows in my opinion also, but other than that they are top notch.
