Hello!

I have spent the last week or so working on a little project and thought I would post some Work in Progress shots for general feedback from the community.

The pictures can be found here (sorry about some of the picture quality)

http://s289.photobucket.com/albums/ll208/iceholey/Battlewagon/

I have had it in the back of my mind now for some time to make a battlewagon, but wanted to base it on something other than a landraider chasis. I eventually chose to base it on an Acadamy 1:35 scale M7 Priest model. The conversion has been going well, but as it comes together I am starting to wonder about the size and if it is a bit too small to represent a battlewagon.

The dimensions are:

Height: 9 cm to top of turret (without gunner) 10 cm (with gunner)
Width: 8 cm
Length: 16 cm (without ram) 19 cm (with ram)

The cannon and loader ork are mounted on a removable plate, in case I want to turn the vehicle into a a troop transport. With the cannon in place, I can just about fit 5 ork Nobz without piling them on top of each other. Without the cannon, I may be able to squeeze in another 3.

Given that the transport capacity of a battlewagon is supposed to be 12 or 20 (depending on cannon), I am starting to think I may have to relegate this vehicle to either a Looted Waggon or a Wartruck.

What do you guys think?

Any advice, comments or critiscm gratefully appreciated!

I like the conversion (based on a WW2 grant or sherman?). Ahh, just reread the thread - It's based on a priest.

You've made it look suitably orky with loads of irregular armour panels and rivets etc.

If you want to make it a battlewagon then I'd have it wider to fit more models in.

The model you have at the moment seems long enough however it seems a bit thin and could be doing with a death roller.

Just MHO

as bartius said, for a wagon i would make it wider, or could even go for a multi tower type thing.

could even take off the tracks, use plasticard to make the base section larger / wider, then re-fix it.

if in need of pasticard any for sale sign seems to work well

Yeah, what JD said: For Sale/Garage Sale signs are the best cheap plasticard. The large signs are a bit thicker than the smaller signs (go to a hardware/Wal*mart and check 'em to see what thickness you need. It's what I'm making my scratch monolith from and works like a charm.

You could always extend some platforms off the side kind of like a small cat walk around it. I like the work over all though, it's different.

Many thanks for the kind comments and ideas!

I'm going to try and build a second deck for it as this would seem to be the easiest modificication to make at the stage I am at, as much of it is already glued together.

I have plenty of plasticard to hand - so no problems there. I just need to work out a support structure for the second deck as I also want to make it removable.

Anyway, I've now finished the gubinization process on the main body of the tank and will post some more pics when I get a chance.

Thanks again to everyone!

Hmmm... I am struggling a little with a way to mount the second deck.

I am toying with the idea of making it into a trailer instead

What do you think?

Just discovered if I turn the second deck upside down and place it on the main deck, it makes an awesome looking 'ard case for it. Pity really, as I want to keep it open topped!

Hello again all

Well, have finally finished it - or at least got it to a point where I am happy with it

(drum roll please...)

Ta da!

Is it red enough Twister?

Sorry it took so long but I got distracted along the way with another project....

It's based on a Word War II German Wespe. Thought I'd go with a "just been looted" kind of look, hence some imperial markings still left on it and lack of orky paint job. More shots here if anyone interested. This one was inspired by a conversion I saw elsewhere, but I lost the original web link and so can't give the credit where it's due. (Thanks whoever you were!)

Hope you all like. I'm off to get some much needed sleep...

Priest mod should be a battlewagon; it's certainly tall enough! Just call the front gun a killcannon and you're good.
