Finally got the courage to post this:

This is the first ever army I have created, chaos just looks cool & I love the ability to have anything from the chaos space marine, space marine and IG codices at my disposal. I only got into the hobby last year and as you can see by the pics, I still have a long way to go when it comes to modeling/painting but any advice will be welcomed.

Decided to go with Fabius Bile as main character so I can have enhanced Marines & also a few other tweeks to the norm.

Anyway, here's what is done at the moment.

Fabius Bile:

Chaos Sorcerer: Formerly a Tech-Marine, bit of a theme - all sorcerers are Tech-Marines or Tech-Priests

Chosen (Fallen):

This dude has a Lascannon

and another way to represent a storm bolter

Squad of Terminators

A squad of Possessed Marines

3 Squads of 5 Enhanced Marines

2 Squads of Raptors

Spawn

Predator & 2 Rhinos

Defiler

and 2 Obliterators

Approx 2000 points here.

This army was set up under the 4th Ed rules but of course with only 3 x 5 man scoring units under 5th Ed rules, things need to change. On my bench I currently have 12 x Berserkers, 20 x Thousand Sons, 20 x Scouts, 6 x raptors, a Baneblade, Deamon Prince & Cypher (pics to come in a bit). Still in the box, there's another Baneblade, a couple of landraiders (terminus & Crusader), 2 predators, rhinos & ridgebacks PLUS another 20 Terminators, 30-40 Marines, a defiler, 5 more chosen, 10 x possessed marines, a terminator lord, and maybe another couple of things I may have forgotten about - Oh yes - a couple of IG battleforce boxes as well.

Just need to find the time to get them all done now. By the end I should be much better with the greenstuff & painting (and a massive bitz box). As said earlier - any advice or critic is welcome, I love this stuff and want to get better at it.

All for now.

nice army you got going threre. may i just suggest that you add highlights to yuor marines to give them a bitmore shape and make the edges of their armor stand out. also i suggest you add a little more depth to the cloaks.,

pretty solid lookin army though, cant wait to see more progress.

Thanks. I agree totally with the highlights stuff. Just need to learn how to do them better. First few attempts were pretty bad but won't give up.

im still a pretty mediocre painter compared to many around here, but i would recommend experimenting with washes and some drybrushing. They arent the most advanced methods, but they are relatively easy and can really help add depth to your paint scheme without being too difficult for new painters.

yeah try inking the clock parts to give it depth. and i agree with count, dyrbrushing is a good way to put it those highlights.

You've got a full army, painted and based, and the chutzpah to post it online and ask for input. That already sees you ahead of many, many folks that have been in the hobby forever and a half. Kudos

For your first army they're looking very good. I'll echo the others and make the suggestion that a simple wash will help add a good deal of depth to the paintjobs. I'd recommend either Devlan Mud or Gryphonne Sepia for your troops, spawn, just about any non vehicle.

Keep plugging away at it, you're off to a great start.

Highlighting and washes are where you need to go, as others have said. The spawn with the flesh theme is the only model I did not like. That effect I think you were going for there is quite difficult to pull off.

You have a very good sense of theme, and artistic styling in your army.

That is more than most players have (which is about zero in both).

GW makes a good little wash kit, it's like 20 bucks for 8 washes or something. You should get it, but experiment on models you can afford to.

i.e. Find some online tutorials (there are alot that are quite good in the dakka article section) and test on some junk models, plasticard, sprue...whatever.

Google is your friend in finding out how to use washes and apply highlighting effectively.

Cheers Stelek - Gonna make to my local GW store soon to get some washes. Just find a little time in between work to read up on the tutorials.

TheThing- If laid down a coat of Dheneb Stone, then covered quite liberally with Purple Ink. For the 'goldish' trim I used a base of Tin Bitz and (Tried my best) to highlight with Brasen Brass (which I think is going out of circulation, so I'll need to find something similar)

Way to go man. Nice to see a fully painted army!

Nice theme you've chosen too. Fabius Bile is a really fun character.

What everyone has said about the washes, I'll agree with again. Ogryn Flesh would help out on the Possessed, while I recommend Gryphonne Sepia and Asurmen Blue for just about everything else.

On the washes, you could do what I do:

Cover EVERYTHING in an all-over wash thats 50/50 Devlan Mud/Badab Black. Works quite well for weathering and brings out detail in most colours.

Also, the red looks a little thin. I recommend useing foundation paints, they really are good!

Keep it up, I'd like to se more of this army.
