First try at an Ork list so here goes:

HQ

Warboss-bike, cybork body, attack squig, PK

Big Mek-SAG

Elites

5 Kommandos-Nob w/ PK, burna

Troops

11 Shotta Boyz-Nob w/ bosspole in Trukk
Trukk-red paint job, grot riggers

20 Slugga Boyz-Nob w/ PK

Fast Attack

Warbuggy-big shoota

5 Bikers-Nob w/ PK

Heavy Support

Deff Dread-2 big shootas, armor plates, grot riggers

Killa Kan-armor plates, grot riggers

Total: 997pts

I know this isn't an ideal list but it's pretty much all the models I have for my Orks. I am going to the shop today so I could pick up some lootas, more buggies or anything really.

My plan, working with what models I got, is to have one flank with all my wheelz on it (bikes, buggy, trukk) to zoom up asap and force my opponent to deviate some firepower towards them. In the center my big mob of boyz, dread, and kan will go straight on at the enemy. Kommandos I'm worried about, I just don't have many but I could pick more up today. They'll be fragile but if they can pop a tank early in the game or something that's all they need to do.

Comments very welcome.

kind of hard to make suggestions if this is all you have. In my experience for games of 1500 points or less, the green tide is unstoppable. Take as many boys w/ nobs with power klaws and mix up big shootas and rokkit launchas. For small games you end up usually outnubering your opponent 4 or 5 to one. As it stands you will be about even with most armies, so it dosent bode well for this list. The best ork lists always follow the 2 rules 1: do you have at least 100 boys? 2: see rule #1, even a 500 point game can run 60 boys. If you can try to find points for a custom mega blasta for the killa kan. This will give you some anti-tank ability, a tip for orks, you can make just about everything from the basic boys box. Kommandos, tank bustas, nob squads, flash gits, warboss, just do some simple conversions and or paint jobs. Good luck

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah a mass of just pure boyz would probably be very effective at this points limit, just not much to stop that many orks at 1k points whereas my wheelz can be killed fairly easily.

How many boyz would you say is ideal for 1k points? 60? 80? I'd prolly beef up the shoota mob and then add another slugga mob.

Quick edit: I have quite a few loose big shootas and rokkits hanging around so I can beef up the boyz that way too no problem. I just thought my slugga mob would spend most of the time running, and one loose rokkit before an assault prolly wont do much anyways.

how many boys can you field? For 1k games I usually have about 80 boys 2 30 man squads plus 20 ard boys in a BW total points is about 820 throw in a warboss on a bike for 150 (boys have nobs with klaws and usually big shootas) leaves about 30 points left over to work in a killa kan/kopter/buggy. Unless your facing nids or other orks you should always strive to outnumber at least 2:1. The only reason you would lose is do to poor tactics or just plain bad luck even then it would have to be overwhelming bad luck. Rokkits are needed in a green tide army, you need those 9 rokkit shots a turn to take out a tank or two, but you can do with out them, armored company isnt a big deal for orks (you need nobs with power klaws in every mob) Vehicles arent bad either buit at 1K I wouldnt have too many Id stick with the hoard army. If you have a kan or 2 toss them in a hoard army they can get burnas, they are cheap and you run them witrh the lads. If you going after a squad with no pwer fists (or a way to hurt armor 11 in cc) then just run the kan in and send the boys off somewhere else.

one tactic with orks is to put as many objectives as close together in the enemy deployment zone, this way you dont have to defend anything, just run forward and get stuck in, a hoard army wont get turn 2 assaults but they will get there by turn 3 and your constantly pushing your opp. back or making him come to you either way its good

if you can for 690 you can get 90 boys kitted out add gazzy (or a walking uber nob) and a killa kan with a mega blasta or grot zooka for 1k, unbeatable.

BUT NOBS are NO GOOD at CC "ork town grot"
-perhaps the single dumbest comment I have ever heard-

I just bought another 10 orks. Including nobz and special weapons, I can pull off 75sh boyz.

that'll do fine. plus itll give you a few more points for a halfway decent nob and maybe even a deff dread.

100 points deff dread 2 big shootas, armor plates and grots

stick a nob or big mek with KFF with a big mob and just run em at everybody shouting waaaagh at the top of your lungs every movement phase

alt. you can do a warphead or 2 thatll almost garuntee a wagggh every turn, plus some good anti vehicle/infantry psychics. stick them with a shoota mob and deep strike them around the table (52 shoota shots, 9 big shoota/3 rokkit shots) just bounce em around where needed and run your slugga boys at everything else.

So a mob of 20 shoota boyz with 2 big shootas and 2 mobs of 30 slugga boyz with pk nobs and rokkits is what you're suggesting? Sorry if I'm not understanding you correctly.

Other units I can toss around are some grots and some stormboyz.

If you get the chance grab as many boyz as you can, as you will need them.
