Embrace the tactical squad, but enjoy terminators!

Terminators.....It's either assault cannons (4 shots, rending) or Cyclone missile launchers (2 shots, krak or frag missile). Play 10 man squads, take 2 heavy weapons, break into combat squads (5 man), possibly take Land Raider transports.

6 combat squads of terminators is nice.

Advice given with new SM codex in mind and troops control objectives in 5th ed.....

Have you gotten your painting tutorial yet? I can tell you how I paint my marines/ terminators. I only have pictures of my terminator Librarian and devastator Squad posted on the forums though.

Anyway, I will kind of describe how I paint my Ultramarines:

Base with Black Paint

Armor
- Paint Ultramarines Blue (I also black line, meaning I don't paint inside the little crevices or where pieces meet, this will help to give depth - You can also use a black ink pen to go over it after you paint)
- I will highlight the blue (last step) with a 2:1 mix of UM blue & white and then a 1:2 mix of UM Blue & White

Eagle - There are two ways I paint the Eagle
1) Gold: Gold, then use black wash to fill in the crevices in between the feathers, then highlight with a 2:1 mix of Gold and Mithril Silver

2) A white Eagle:
Shadow Grey (base)
Fortress Grey Drybrush
White on the edges of each wing etc.

Gun
- I will kind of dry brush the mechanical parts with Bolt gun metal, then highlight with Mithril Silver
- The casing I paint:
Base - Red Gore
Blood Red
1:1 Mix of Blood Red and Orange (Highlight)
Orange (Final Highlight)

Head: I paint the heads white as they are elites (this is a different way from the eagles)
Codex Grey Base (Black Line The helmet too)
Fortress Grey
1:1 Fortress Grey with White
White

Anyway, that is how I paint my terminators and this pretty much covers the main parts of it. I think red or green eyes are good too. You can do the purity seals however you want.

Unfortunately I don't have a picture handy to show you.

Here is a link to my terminator librarian, which is actually a bit darker than what I use for normal guys. There are two standard marines and a rhino there though.

I hope it helps
