Here's the mech Dante/Corbulo Blood Angel army I played in game 1.

His army included:

6 Man Death Company.
Furioso Dread.
2 Rhinos, melta/pfist/missile on 2 ten man tactical squads.
5 man honor guard, 2 power weapons and 2 plasma pistols.
Dante.
Corbulo.
2 Baal Preds.
5 man assault squad w/pfist.

Here's my deployment, in the far corner:

Here was his (he deployed first):

His first turn movement. Corbulo stalled in his Rhino.

Mine. Not a whole lot going on.

I spent alot of time shooting him. I killed most of the Honor guard and a jump pack squad.

Then the death company ran to the side instead of walking into the firepower.

Here he's moving forward and securing an objective with a half-squad in a rhino.

Here he is hiding some more from the guns.

Here I am moving up. I think this was turn 5.

Not a whole lot going on here, he's moved up some more on that flank.

The Death Company are coming forward finally.

As you can see, I shot quite a few of them dead on my turn. They advance anyway...

That dreadnought took a barrage of firepower but was just shaken 4 times and ate the stormtroopers in front of him.

I think I immobilized both of these vehicles, that was about all I managed on that side.

There is an objective marker right behind the rhino carrying a troops half-squad.

Before the Blood Angel charge.

Sadly my opponent shot his Death Company at the Sisters squad (never do that) and they lost enough for a morale check, which I failed.

So they stood around. Dante cleaned up the stormtroopers on his side, and I shot the crap outta him with heavy bolters but only got 2 wounds through. He failed to do any damage in close combat, and I didn't kill him.

There's another objective marker in the big building. These squads didn't do much for the entire game.

I got a 6,6,6 on the dread with that lascannon team. Saved me from a loss.

In the end, he had 2 objectives and I had 2 objectives. We contested the third, so it came down to VP's and I had him by a large margin.

Nice photos. Going to VPs if the objectives are a draw is big.

My DH army is incapable of really winning any missions unless:

1) You screw up.
2) I screw up.
3) I table you.

Indeed. It is however very difficult to get an actual draw.

You have to fail at the mission and then both be within less than 10% of VP's.

I wiped out large portions of my enemies army but as expected could not really achieve the first 3 missions objectives, barely pulled off the 4th, and the 5th was a gift (to me).

That said, I still scored 73 of 100 possible points.

I think it was 12, 13, 14, 14, and 20 points.

I honestly expected to lose every single game but the 5th one when I sat down, but the first 4 players I faced weren't aggressive enough and I punished them for their lack of action.

The last guy was very aggressive, but his army and the mission versus my army cost him any real chance of even a draw loss.

They seem that way, but they had around 50 marines.

Special characters are really pricey.

Army lists would be very helpful. The BA looked something like this...

Dante/Corbulo
5 Honorguard w. jump packs

Furiso dreadnaught
5 DC Marines

10 tactical Marines in rhino
Troop in rhino
5 Assault Marines w. jump packs

2 Baal predators

Thanks for the report Stelek, really appreciate the pics.

He seemed very slow to close with you. Do you think he held back too long?

Yes. All of my opponents were not aggressive enough by a huge amount.

I'm curious as to why that was. Was it a change in the way objectives were taken and victories awarded that caused this behavior? Was this simply not adapting to the new 5e rules? Someone else mentioned that in their last game with Marc Parker, Marc killed 2 units to their 1, which resulted in a 200% killpoint ratio and therefore a major victory.

The 5E rules were not built with balanced tournament play in mind.

Note that next year, the Redeemer armies would manhandle Marc's army without blinking an eye.

People haven't figured out that everyone gets cover, and either you make them take a billion saves or you negate it.

John and Marc did. They were exact opposite lists but both around the concept of everyone gets cover.

I know I was expecting alot less terrain than actually appeared at the GT this year, and that just compounded the issue even more for 99% of the armies there.

I brought self-generating cover and enough ranged firepower to negate cover saves, but I was a mix and not 'pure' like Marc and Johns lists were so I stood no chance against either one.

Against everybody else? Not difficult to win when you're list is running against the wrong edition army.

Alot of people are all agaga about Demons placing high. Well, they placed high because they played 4th edition non-mech lists and crushed those lists. They lost against mech lists for the most part, because that is their weakness.

I wish I could have played Daemons all day. Talk about an almost autowin against all of those lists I saw.

This isn't disparaging anyone, the truth is everyone brought 4th edition lists with no real focus on 5th edition but a very small handful of people.

My other two friends screwed themselves by daring to be busy WORKING (how dare you!!!) instead of playtesting their lists like they should have been. So they got what you get when you don't playtest, which is alot of losses as you learn your army. Just the way of things.

It was the 12" deployment from your table edge.

I made him deploy first (I did that in every game).

Then I refused flanked him.

Sounds like your opponent made a mistake before you even deployed a model then. Shoulda deployed in the center, knowing that your army was gun-linish.

Correct. He made quite a few mistakes, but I think he learned quickly and did better in his other games.

Thanks for the batrep Stelek post a few more if you have the time.

I just dont know why he did not pop your heavy weapon and send them to the ground while he closed the distance with his assault troops.

I take it your army is still WIP?

Thanks again for the batrep and post a few more.

Man, I was stunned to see him crammed into the corner like that first turn. I was really thinking an aggressive BA list might give you some trouble. Instead he ensured he had pretty much the maximum possible distance to move before engagement. Wierd...

Not a bad report though. Short and sweet
