I was reading through the IG codex seeing if there was any thing funny that could be done with them in 5th ED and i came across this
Chimera Transport
Transport:
(skip)... A. chimera is always selected as a transport update for another unit and may only transport the unit it was bought for...

transport rule in the BGB was intended that any transport could be used with any one ... but RAW happily excluded some army's ... IG & BT are the only one I've found effected (also checked CSM, DH, WH, Tau, DA, Eldar & DE but there fine) as both have "may only transport the unit it was bought for" in their rules.

I'm just wondering what peoples views are on this. Personally I'll be play as i believe RAI and so IG & BT can swap transports

It just proves that IG really really really need a codex upgrade.

Once upon a time, I told myself it's better to be smart than lucky. Every day, the world proves me wrong a little more.

Codex rules override main book rules, so the IG are screwed. In friendly games though you can probably talk your friends into letting them function like normal transports, particularly since the codex was written 2 editions ago. However as the rules stand, you can only put the squad you bought inside the chimera.

Threads should be like skirts: long enough to cover what's important but short enough to keep it interesting.

Im sure I can find a loop whole. What does the mechanized doctrine say?

"Do NOT ask me if you can fire the squad you forgot to shoot once we are in the assault phase, EVER!!!"

NO not everyone only guard infantry. SO ogryn and any allies, will not have one along with any one else not considered guard infantry.

"Do NOT ask me if you can fire the squad you forgot to shoot once we are in the assault phase, EVER!!!"

eh... the 'RAW loophole' cuts both ways.

Dedicated transports are still dedicated, but they can drop down an entire Command Platoon in DoW.

still its probably more of a pain for the BT as they need LRC to move their large Crusader Squads if they cheep out and buy it for a squad they can't put any one else in it
