Mayhem Comics in Des Moines, Iowa

This came up in our `Ard Boyz. Wasn't my game, but the argument could be heard thru the whole room.

Unit moved forward towards the enemy. Emperor's Champion comes in and joins the unit at the far back. Unit charges the enemy just reaching combat. Does the Champion move from the back of the unit clear to the front of the unit to engage their characters even though he is not engaged or even with-in 2" of anyone who is?

He pulled off something like a 16" move/charge with this.

Unless something I am forgetting in 5E made this dysfunctional, it should still be alive and well.
