Okay, I have planned this for several weeks and have most of this down.
First, I'll be running these like Grey Knights (Gear troops) with an Inquisitor (Gear commander) & retinue (lady, JACK, and Gear body guards).

The troops are space marine legs (no knee cap ones), marine scout torsos, bolters with chainswords put on them, catachan heads and arms...icons taken off, and a little green stuff work....

The transport - the APC - has 6 wheels...so I thought of the new ork buggy and lots of conversion work..........run it like a LR crusader......thoughts?

the tank (Gears of War 2) - 4 wheels & a turret....turret looks like Tau hammerhead turret....body is 4 wheeled similar to APC, .......run it like a predator......another ork vehicle?

Drop pod - like the drilling pods in GoW2....easy conversion...

Valkyrie (the chopper/helicopter from GoW) - a rhino body minus the sides & 2 tau devilfish engines, plus plast-card & green stuff? Ideas?

Weapons - sniper is a tau rifle.....most ork weapons will work, chainsaw gun is simple.....

concept art showed "bucket heads" like termies......

never thought of a video game army! might try that sometime, maybe a combine (half life 2) IG army!

I was able to purchase 50 scout torsos (looks closest to GoW armour, icons will be scraped off) , 50 chaos marine legs (looks closest to GoW armour, icons will be scraped off), 50 bases, 50 sets of kroot shoulder pads (looks closest to GoW armour), 50 sets of catachan arms, 50 bolters (looks like lancer!), 50 chaos chain swords (for the lancers!), 10 scout shotguns (looks just like GoW ones), 10 tau pulse rifles (like GoW sniper rifles), 50 heads from catachan & scouts & cadaian lines, and a dozen other various bits for only $125.00....(it's about 1420 pts roughly for Grey Knights......).

This will make 1 hq & 6 troop choices.....plus orbital strike (aka GoW "hammer of dawn")

I'll post pics as I convert them.....

I like the idea alot, and the for a Half Life army, that would be cool too.

i was thinking the same thing, but you will need alot of chainswords if your going to do lancers, and if you succed....well i just cant wait to see this come aong

Here are pics of the armor & back...and pics of the bits that will be used on each figure....

All icons will be scraped off of scout torso except the skull on chest (that'll be painted white & a white cog around it), all icons off legs, icons off bolter, etc...

The paint scheme will be same as grey knights....

I'll take extra time and detail to Marcus, Cole, LT, Dom, the Colonel, & other main characters from the game....

The cool thing is this army can be run as GK, Elysian drop troops, or nearly any human list, etc...

I know you already bought the heads but there is that one mini company that sells head swap-outs for their line of models and they kind of look exactly like the COG heads for the normal grunt troopers.

I wish I could remember what company/mini-line it was. . .maybe someone else will be able to.

They're not as close to the COG head as I remembered but I still think some of 'em will be closer than what you can find with GW heads.

shouldn't you maybe use some heads that resemble Carmine?

I quite liked it, but I've also seen some guy convert some Orks into Locust Troopers on another board. That was a while ago though...

Yes, I'll have several helmeted heads that look like Carmine. The "gnasher" (shotgun) looks just like the scout's shotgun, and several will have that. The longshot (sniper rifle) is identical to the Tau pulse rifle, and some will have that. Several ork guns will be in there, they look like Locust guns. The frag grenade will be the ork stick bomb with the head cut off the stick and a chaos chain attatched to the stick & head, two guys will be "twirling" those...I'll also pose several minis like the distinct game poses you can do like squating behind cover, blindly firing over cover, etc...

id shave the bottom of those tau rifles and stick scopes on them

your about ready to go!

I had doubts but it's looking very good. I especially like the grenade.

started playing gears yesterday after ages of playing call of duty 4 instead, forgot how much i loved it

just reading the rumours section, and noticed a pic of a figure that would suit your army much better than converting SM.

Well, it would be 100% GW bits, so it is tourny legal. However, GW would never ever publish photods due to "intellectual property wrights" and all that...I saw this happen in a few GW Tournies where a beautiful Star Wars (100% gw minis & bits) was used & also another scifi movie, but the name escapes me....

Oh, and a Centaur Tank has been released! It is the right scale and an RC tank that was a Best Buy pre-order given away with GoW2....woohoo

Hey maybe if you could drop one gear squad you can bring in a attached guard platoon made of guys converted to look like Dizzy.

Still rough, need green stuff and painting....coming along well!

Looks good. A couple of minor points though: The handle of the bolter/chainsword thingy, just looks a little large for the gun. Also, the tau rifle, is of a different style to the other weaponry. I'm not sure what to suggest, but some minor modification to it might harmonise the weapons.
Great to see such a well conceived army, with a lot of thought put into it! Keep up the good work!
