Hi im i need of jump packs i set up a thing in dakka swap shop.But i dont want to pay stupi amounts as im going to be using an excessive amount of them so i was wondering if anyone knew a good way to convert jump packs easily and very cheaply or if you had any lol

Weeerl, I´m not saying that they´re cheap per se, but one of the cheaper things FW makes, is actually some rather nifty jump packs for their elysian IG...

They come in packs of ten for 9£ I believe.

I just had a look but tbh there a wee bit small i want something like the marine sise as i want to do an army where even the tac squads have jump packs.including hover rhino

I'm in the same boat. I'm considering using some old 2nd edition marine back packs and converting them to jump packs using round and rectangular plastic tubing. I'll try and make one tonight and post some picks.

I can't really think of a way to cheaply make a jump pack. It's a pretty big piece of equipment.

Maybe you should just buy straight assault marines, probably gonna be cheaper to buy them and give them bolters then to buy JPs for tac marines. Plus if you just go for tac marines they are gonna look kind of odd id think, and might not fit perfectly.

Up until recently GW sold bags of Jump Packs for $15-$20 for 10.

I have close on 65-70 of them in my bitz boxes through various trades and such.

As for making cheap ones? Your suggestion of a normal backpack and tubes might work out ok, if you get the right sized tube.

I made this tonight. It's not quite done yet but a decent start. I used 1/4" rectangular styrene for the intakes. 5/16" brass tubing for the jets and 2 old school flame pistols on the back for flavor. I'll add some thin styrene tubing for detail on the jets and some guitar string for cabling/hoses.

You can always buy Assault Marine boxes and then sell or trade everything except the packs. If you don't make your money back you will at least get the packs for cheaper than 3 bucks or more apiece. If you have the patience to convert then I would do that, the pics posted of the coverted pack are awesome!
