Im thinking of doing another guard army with Tallarn or Pretorians. Could someone help me with a list idea.

The Hammer

command HQ with Jr. Officer and mortar, 20 Last Chancers, 30-40 SOB, 3xHellhound, 3xRuss/Demolisher is the current "safe" formula. The biggest change is that lascannon are nerfed. Else go Drop Troops and play template spam. (same armoured support, only 7 Last Chancers, Shaeffer, Kage and five human bombs, 3xVeterans with Melta Gun for AT, platoons with heavy bolter, maybe the odd autocannon, and plasma gun or flamer) The first list is built to have large, durable blocks of men and women that will give up their Kill Points dearly; the second built for no purpose other than removing absolutely every last one of your opponent's figures from the table - after all, they could have ten million Kill Points and you could have exactly one figure left on the table, but if they have nothing left, then you win. Chameleoline kicks behind as well, Drop Troops, Veterans, Iron Discipline, and Close Order Drill are the other key doctrines for that list.

If you have a lot of time, money, energy and patience you could attempt to build a mortar/conscript list. This list is PURE theoryhammer with no play and no other backers here besides me. The idea is to hide the easy kill points and put the hard ones out in the open. Checkerboard formation and Chameleoline - 2+ save Going to Ground - will keep the Conscripts from going down too hard. Flame throwers in the front rank can be picked up by their fellows to the rear and will avoid the penalty of giving you opponent a save from your own checkerboard. Independent Commissars would lend (now invisible) Power Fist attacks. The line squads hide back in and behind cover relying on Chameleoline and Go to Ground for their protection. The weak spot in the list would be the lack of decent anti-tank options - AV14 all-over pieces will only get more popular.

When soldiers think, it's called routing.
