Simply put I was wondering what a "knightly order" army might look like so I decided to put one together to see what you all think. It seems pretty straight forward. Its a little light on magic defense but should be able to hold its own during its own magic phase. I didn't want much shooting so I only took pistoliers. Basically the swordsmen and pistoliers are squires in the various stages of training, the greatswords are dismounted knights and so forth. I tried to make it fluffy but competitive. The BsB goes in one of the 9 man units and the wizard in the other. The warrior priest and the grandmaster share the 8 man inner circle unit. The priest acts as a bodyguard for challenges, a portable healer and buffer, and allows hatred re rolls with the SoM+Laurels combo. Not to mention if he gets the re roll attacks/wounds off on himself in a challenge he basically will get 3 chances to wound even tho he only gets 2 attacks. I think this army would work rather well and because it contains no arty and no stanks people wouldn't balk at playing it. As usual any C&C is much appreciated.

why don't you just go all knight with everyone on a horse (mechanical ones included), on a pegasus or in a steamtank. its even fluffier and works in tornaments alot more effectively.

I would ditch the the Great Swords for a Stank and take an additional pistolier in each unit.

It will give you more mobility and some additional staying power.

Just some thoughts

Sword of Sigismund for the general seems better to me as he doesn't have a ward save

Don't need BSB, put him on a pegasus and have him hunt warmachines or lone wizards as you lack the ability to do this

Drop the wizard to lvl 1, he won't really be casting anyway with only 4 dice, make him a scroll caddy to stop that spell you absolutely have to stop

Sword of justice for warrior priest? cheaper and then you reroll hits (1st turn) and wounds (every turn)

The infantry is truly out of place, drop it for more knights

your IC knights are too big, your paying alot of points for +1cr that is negated after 1 wound, drop them to six strong units and take more units of knights

did a quick list with AB

TMG - FP Sh BWH L Sword of Sigismund (245)
Laurels of Victory

Yeah, Greatswords are best for forming a solid center of a defensive line...they will have absolutely nothing to do in your list. Expensive, comparatively slow, and due to having only a 4+, some of the lightest troops in your army. Better spent on more knights, a Stank, some pistoliers, or even some Outriders. The Outriders could move upfield turn 1, and lay down support fire, then reposition as the battle unfolded.

The problem is that you have TONS of points sunk into those two larger knight units. The two smaller knight units will easily take one or two casualties from enemy fire and either panic or become so small they're non-issues. PapaSmurf's list has tons of 6-man units, and in a list like this that's what you need.

Those huge Knight units rely on one thing: crushing the enemy, specifically through combat res. Empire Knights are awesome - +1 save with lances is nothing to scoff at. Problem is, they only have one attack, and will not kill as many enemies as you'd like, even with a WP. One stubborn unit or undead unit that doesn't instantly scatter in front of your knights will lock them in place and then you're facing a rape-party as enemy blocks hit your flanks and bury you through weight of numbers and an obscene number of attacks.

You've got the touch!
