The motivation bug has grabbed me......

Seeing that I'm painting up 2-3 AoBR Dreads today.

I would like to do the DA's techmarine trick. That being whenever DA's drop an elite or heavy non-dedicated transport vehicle they may drop a techmarine that does not count on FOC. They then can add up to 4 servitors.

My thought is to use SM scouts for the servitors, I just dislike the servitor model and the fact that it is lead. I will add 4 heavy bolters. Maybe add the DA's tech marine shoulder, a non-scout head and devastator back pack. Plan is to do 3 squads of these.

acceptable or no?

If they look like what they are supposed to with "counts as" there shouldn't be a problem with that. I mean servitors can really look any way you want them to, they aren't always half naked corpses with guns.

You could even go so far as to robe them up with green stuff and have them be failed aspirants or captured fallen, that would be cool.

I'd be fine with scouts with heavy bolters and the shoulder pad. Would be cool, call em apprentice tech marines.

Obviously, they will be painted in red armor to signify their service to Tech Marine and Mars.

@ sphynx....care to share why you wouldn't allow

My thought is servitor save is 4+, so scout armor is good choice in that area.

I'd like to add bare arms, but not sure what to do. SM don't really have any bare armed models.

You can always try some kind of conversion with chaos marauder arms or something for bare flesh.

Catachan arms are also cheap and easy to find. Practically every Guard player has some hanging around. Or use Cadian arms instead. The look different enough but should fit the model fine.

@ Sphynx : I don't see any reason why not if they look the role. Adeptus Mechanicus armies use regular storm trooper models.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."
