The LGS here had a Contest/Tournament for the release of Assault on Black Reach. Finish your army in 1 day, and enter the tournament with a minimum of 3 colors. Well...I somehow managed it, even with my 3 year old while Mommy was at work. I ended up getting her to paint with me...I will have to post those Orks later. I put her Orks in with my Shoota boyz and ended up coming in Second Place at 'Ard Boyz...so I could use a whole army painted by her!

I am going back over these Orks and painting them as if I wanted to be seen in public with them. Here is the Warboss I spent last night and today on. I haven't based him yet, and will probably just do them all at once. I am planning on having all the Orks painted by the end of September.

I am still getting the hang of this photography and editing photos in GIMP as well. Any hints on those areas will be appreciated as well. So...what would you all do to improve this guy?

Flock the base and call it a "win"

Did you drybrush the mini? Or wash it?

Originally, I did a drybrush to get them all finished in a day. I have gone back over this, and painted multiple highlights as well as used some washes...so I guess the answer is Yes to all variations of that question

Ok my go at the pics:
1. Get another lamp to get light from the front as the pics are too dark below the shoulderline
2. Take pics using gray background opposed to white one, many cameras have trouble with contrast if there is too much white in the pic
3. Take pics a bit further away from the fig and use crop to get whole fig in focus


The boss itself looks nice, the yellow metals could use some additional lovin'. Just a hint of mithril silver added to the base color and some linings done with the mix. Otherwise really good looking fig. With lighter base it will look splendid on the table.

I redid the Warboss a bit, and also painted up some Deffkoptaz. They are all still wip, so anything to add would be great.

Metsuri, that is just what I was looking for. I didn't get out the lightbox again last night, but if I feel better I will paint some more and take better pics in a little while...after a nap
