Right, so to get this thread going, a bit of explaining is required.

Since Necromunda was released originally I´ve been a fan of it. All the action of 40K, with the added suspense that your models actually matter to you.

That is, the characters matter. You can´t throw them heedlessly at whatever obstacle, because if they die, that´s "Game over man!" They´re all you have. Good stuff.

Anyways, seeing several others do excellent things with the Necromunda rules (I´m looking at you Migsula), I spoke with some friends, and we agreed that this winter we´d get a Necromunda campaign going.

You may have seen my Landspeeder thread in the painting and modeling forum, that´s the transport for my gang, so in fact I´ve started working on my gang already.

This thread will have wip and finished pics of my models, as well as some background fluff.

We´re still debating house rules, so finished gang lists aren´t possible at the moment, but I have found out that I want my gang to be a collection of specialists from different parts of the imperium.

It may not be the "hardest" gang ever, but I think it will be good fluff-wise, and entertaining to play.

Right, enough of my rambling on, here are some wip pics, these are undercoated, but not based yet. Also, the sniper needs work, but I´m still thinking about how exactly to make him different.

(Edit: Title changed...)

The gunslinger. She is carrying a pair of autopistols.

[Thumb - Mechanic 1.jpg]
The Mechanic. She´ll be a Juve, mostly there because the model looks good, and also because I think it works as background.

[Thumb - Sniper 1.jpg]
My sniper. He´s Vostroyan, and it´s a bit too obvious right now. I really want to switch his rifle for another one.

Don't change the rifle. The Voystroyans are great models, and their Snipers are fantastic. Just file off the obviously Imperial logos and whatnot and you've got a very good techno-medieval Sniper.

@Lalabox: Thanks. the mechanic is from reaper´s chronoscope line. There´s a lot of good stuff in there!

@HBMC: Hmm, that´s an option of course. I really like the vostroyans as well.

I´ve been working on bases for these guys, will try to get pics up later today.

Okay, got the bases for these three done. Now it´s off to painting for them, and inspiration for more members of the gang.

The bases will be done similarly to the base of my Landspeeder, to tie them all together. I may add details to the bases, but if so that´s for later.

Also, I´m having serious second thoughts about the heavy I´d picked out. Seeing him alongside these guys he just seems a bit too dirty and shady. These guys are the puritans of the campaign after all...

Those look great!
I like the industrial plating bases you've made- i liked the rubble base of the gunslinger, but i like the plating even better.

*What model is the gunslinger from?
I don't recognize it.

I also picked up the chronoscope mechanic awhile back- it's just too cool not to have- really gives good flavor to your gang.

Don't worry about the sniper seeming too shady, I think it works- he is a sniper afterall... maybe all that time being alone, waiting, watching people die through his scope- that'd have to have an effect on the guy.

Hey, thanks! Yeah, I actually had rubble bases for the other two as well, but they weren´t right for this group.

The Gunslinger is also from the chronoscope line, with new guns.

I´m still hunting for one or two more chronoscope models, they´re really good. And great character in many of them.

Good thoughts about the Sniper also, yeah he might very well be more of a shady type...

I´ll be trying out some quite muted colors for them, going with grays, dark greens and reds, and mostly non-contrast main colors.

Other than this, I´ll be attempting to make each model have it´s own feel, and just see where that takes me.

For the bases, I´ll be going with something similar to the one for my Landspeeder.

Finally!

Excellent start. I love the bases. I think in some of them, like the sniper, you are restricting yourself too much with the "round diameter" just let the base go wild when you need it for the model. Particularly with the sniper. Also when you add more height, pipes etc. are a nice addition to poke through under the higher level plates.

I'm just home from Stockholm and picked up a brilliant NPC model from the Warmachine range which isn't sold in Helsinki.

Yeah, I was having doubts about the bases, but I´ll probably do a display for them eventually, and the round bases might fit better with that I thought.

The sniper actually has pipes and such on his base, I´ll post more pics to better show this off when I get some paint on him.

Looking forward to seeing that new guy of yours.

Blast! As soon as I was over that 'have to start a Necromunda gang'-phase that started when I read
Migsulas Imunda-blog, this great blog shows up. Now I have two utterly inspiring threads that just begs
me to start my own gang...

Oh well, I guess it could be worse

I'm really looking forward to seeing how this progresses. And judging by the standard of your Land Speeder,
this will be grand!

Hey, thanks for the comments people. PAinting is on a hold just now, since there´s a major project due friday, and I´m sorta focusing on that.

However, I have settled on schemes for this trio. The Sniper will be in muted greys, and dark metal armor.

The Gunslinger chick willl have a dark green bodysuit, with padding in a color yet to be decided.

And the mechanic will obviously have dusty orange coveralls, and unruly dark brown hair. (And a heart of gold, to boot!)

I´ve also put together some pallets from balsa, that I´ll be using as objective markers with the addition of gear stacked on them. Will try to get pics up friday at the latest.

@Peredyne: Yeah, the chronoscope stuff is golden. I´m still waiting on one more model from that line, as well as two others from GW.

The more =I=Munda players the better!

@Agandhjin: Yes, build a gang, and your journey to the Necro side will be complete! I´m really happy with how my Landspeeder turned out.

@Migsula: Yes, please do a website. Maybe not so much for discussion, but for hosting pics of the finished gangs it would be great!

@Col Hammer: Thanks a lot. I´ll be working on this group next weekend. No work and no projects then!

As promised, a bit of an update here.

Some painting done on the first three, and I´ve found the next two of my gang. A Death Cultist, and my heavy.

I should note, that none of the painting is even close to done, but it gives an idea of where I´m going.

I´ve been going back and forth about using the heavy or not, since he is apparently rare these days.

But then I figured, what the heck.

Also, some pics of the pallet objective markers/scenery bits.
[Thumb - Gunslinger Marked.jpg]
The gunslinger. She´s got a green bodyglove, still very very wip.

[Thumb - Mechanic Marked.jpg]
The mechanic. Classic orange coveralls, she´ll get dirtied up considerably.

[Thumb - Sniper Marked.jpg]
The Sniper. He´s got most of the main colors done, I´ll be going for highlights and shading tonight.

[Thumb - Death Cult Marked.jpg]
The death cultist. She´ll get a new sword, and possibly some facial work, but we´ll see.

[Thumb - Heavy Marked.jpg]
Heavy. He is indeed an ash waste model, but he looks very cool, and characterful. Not sure whether I want to change the gun or not... Thoughts?

[Thumb - Pallets Marked.jpg]
The balsa pallets.

[Thumb - Pallets 2 Marked.jpg]
More pallets. With some stuff on them for size comparison.

Lucky man to have an Ash Waste heavy. Very characterful. Not so impressed with the DCA, kind of "meh". That gunslinger would actually make a great Van Saar ganger.

I like the pallets. Nice atmosphere.
I'm liking the mechanic and sniper a lot... but the gunslinger just doesn't do it for me. The guns seem comically large for her. I can get over that. the head, though... It's enormous. Almost like a charicature. I'd do a head-swap, if it was me.

You've done a good job on those bases. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

The pallets are actually very easy to make, takes about five minutes to put each together if you have the materials.

For mine, I used:
4x4mm Balsa for the supports.
5x1,5mm Balsa for the wide boards.
1,5x1,5mm Balsa for the thin boards.
Wood glue to hold them together.

You could use superglue to put them together, but with the wood glue, you have a bit of time, to align them properly, and get them just right.

Mine are 2,5cm by 3cm, and at that size, they can take 4 barrels, which I think is about right if we compare to RL pallets.

For future pallets, I´ll probably make the thin boards 3mm, to better mimic the RL ones.

I do have to agree with another poster too on the size of the Gunslinger's guns.
Don't get me wrong, they're cool looking guns and all, I just don't see how she could hold one let alone two.
