So, working on my Celestial Lions list....playing around with a 'Shock and Awe' List. Here goes

Master Forge
Plasma Pistol

Ironclad
Heavy Flamer
Hunter Killer X 2
Drop Pod
Beacon

Ironclad
Hunter Killer X 2
Drop Pod
Beacon

Drop Pod

Tac Squad 1
Meltagun
ML
Drop Pod

Tac Squad 2
Meltagun
ML
Drop Pod

Tac Squad 3
Flamer
ML
Drop Pod

So, 8 drop pods total. First 4 would be Ironclads, 3 of which have beacons. Next turn, another 4 show up (3 tacs and 1 Ironclad). Ironclads doing the killing, tac squads mop up/squat objectives. I won't bleed easy kill points and my objective denial/squat should be pretty tough. Thoughts?

I was concerned with lack of troops, anytime I drop below 30 marines in 5th I start to panic

I could drop another tac and throw in an Ironclad w/ pod...perhaps some goodies. Objective missions I would only have 2 scoring though...?

Your 8 AV12 drop pods are kill points, aren't they?

I think the same way. 3 scoring, all the way.

Still, 6 dreads would be cool.

Those Hunter Killers are 150 points for all of them? Maybe there are other anti-tank options. Show up, flame, assault you may not get a chance to shoot them all.

Well, yeah but in my 5th experience AV12 is not easy to blow from range. Regardless, they'll have 5 AV13 Dreads stomping at/in them...so I welcome them taking shots at my AV12 pods .

Hunter Killers are 100 total (20 X 5 dreads)...I was thinking either against hordes (2 blast templates along with flame) or against armour (1 melta + 2 HK) would be good. Hmm, I don't know what I can get for 100 that won't start on the board...? Maybe a speeder w/ MM? With all the armour that's running around...it might actually survive...

Technically he has 6 scoring units if he combat squads the Tacticals when they land. Obviously don't split the squads for KP mission, but splitting lets one or two five-man squads run back to your objective while the rest prosecute the offensive.

Guess I'm not used to free ML or combat squads yet...updated the post.

My bad, I did not know they were improved like that.

Some lingering part of my childhood desperately wants a custom chapter rule where if you have 5 Celestial Lion Mechs in play you can replace them with a single Imperial Titan called "Voltron."

On a slightly more serious note, I like the list. I'm absolutely taken with the notion of destroying the enemy with a horde of giant stompy robots.

HK are not frag, they are krak missiles. Cannot choose.

Like the list. I had thought about a list that is similar that I call the Forge buddies or Forge brothers. Same idea but add Vulkan and use some regular dreads to save on points.

You know that would actually be really funny. Predators for the legs. Rhinos for the joints. Landspeeders for the toes. Land Raiders for the body. etc etc. Dreadnought hands and the head is ... a Baneblade? All for the price of a new car.

That sounds more like the Constructicons unite to form...... Devastator! than Voltron.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.
