Why? If they are supposed to be siege masters, they totally need to be. Mining and counter-mining involved sending kill teams into small tunnels for centuries in real life, ditto for sallies out of and into fortifications, as well as patrolling no man's shelled land and attempts to capture prisoners. Out of all styles of warfare, sieges tend to favour kill team style operations the most, because say armoured or air mobile division or mounted/bike infantry tactics other marines prefer can do without small infiltration and scout squads, you kind of need them for static warfare unless you're dumber than an ork...
Ibris brings up a really good point. I think this would be an awesome excuse to do a "small operations" IW team. You could model a group of IW as tunnelers (maybe load out some cultist with shovels/picks/demo equipment too) or trench raiders. I don't know if you enjoy kit-bashing/ converting Arachnofiend, but I imagine you could whip together some really awesome looking and fluffy Iron Warrior tunnelers or trench raiders.

My hope is we see more stuff like the Rogue Trader set- maybe not necessarily a big deluxe set with two opposing teams, but unique individual factions with all the necessary info included with them.
5 to 10 models or so, maybe some scenery/ objective bits, a few tactics cards for around 30 or 40? I can see them selling pretty easily just for new models, especially if it's something related to current armies but no represented on the field.

Went ahead and pre-ordered the Kill Team starter, the Kill Zone: Sector Mechanicus expansion because its a really good deal for the terrain and for the cards and board exclusive to that set, and Kill Team: Fangs of Ulfrich as I don't have a Reivers box and wouldn't mind the cards exclusive to it. Decided to take a pass on the Krogskull Boyz expansion because I already have 15 Burna boyz w/ meks and the Servohauler. Just couldn't justify $60 to essentially just get the cards exclusive to that box.
I do plan to buy more of the Sector Imperialis terrian as it looks absolutely fantastic, but the above gives me more than plenty to go with the Mechanicus terrain I already have, a lot of it ironically from SWA.
Really looking forward to this as it is giving me a great excuse to go back and visit some of the mini's and armies I only dabbled in and to dip my toes into others without feeling like I have to commit to a whole army.

No one gets HQs in Kill Team, you know (though Commissars should totally be in, if only to make 597th Valhallan Kill Team ), and even from the range standpoint, you already have a number of nice plastic/resin Inquisitors. The mooks are much more urgent hole to fill and the eventual Inquisition Codex needs some sort of troop choice before they can even start to write it...

Oh my.......this just made my hobby life. Thanks for posting this Brook! Once the game comes out, I'm going to email them in support of this. I would absolutely love to see some Inquisitorial agents as a Kill Team. No Inquisitors makes sense, as they generally only tackle really heavy duty stuff personally. Acolytes will likely have some sort of upgrade to an Interrogator for the Sergeant spot.

Indeed, Inquisitors are quite above these things and so far as far as I can tell, there are indeed no HQ's in the game. For the time being players were advised to use the Guard options, or wait for Rogue Trader to hit (whenever that may be) and use that one as a framework for the =][=
I think the Rogue Trader expansion can be seen as them testing the waters for oddball or new factions that wouldn't happen normally. It wouldn't surprise me if a future expansion would have an Inquisitorial warband pitted against a cult.

Got some good news for y'all! Straight from the horse's mouth.
A. GW has 18 months worth of product planned for Kill Team. Intention is at least 4 years of support.
B. After Tyranids and Astra Militarum get their starter sets, the next 4 will be...
-Necron - Immortals/Deathmarks
-Dark Eldar - Wyches
-Tau - Fire Warriors/Breachers
-Deathwatch - Deathwatch Veterans
C. Also be on the look out for the Death World Killzone!
Not to mention all the stuff we already know about, like Rogue Trader!

That makes sense and I can always just model the acolyte leader as the Inquisitor. Or maybe just “promote” him once he reaches level 4.

Any clue which terrain goes with which kits even a loose killzone idea such as drukhari feel like they might come with killzone deathworld piece? I do think that tau coming with tidewall pieces or something similar would be sick, I just get the feeling that death watch may be more mechanicus (I wouldn't mind if it came with gantries) no idea where necron would fit in, probably mechanicus too since ad mec farm for Blackstone right?

It seems really unlikely, but Deathwatch should come with one of the new statue terrain sprues that aren't included in the main box.

I would absolutely love this especially since the starter seems to be one of the two different statue kits minus the actual statues lol

I would not expect for any of the new terrain to be in starter sets. The existing terrain pieces they been putting in there likely because those kits have made their money back on the production costs and can now more easily be bundled at a lower price point.

Why would it be declared as a kill team starter then that makes no sense? No after seeing two future starters using the crate terrain I see no reason they wouldn't continue the trend of boxing the terrain with a unit
Edit: sorry I see what youre saying now, including new kits of terrain in the starters. I would agree but I honestly believe the deathworld stuff will be bundled, at the very least as a killzone so they'll be taking some hits to get the terrain out there. Especially with the deluge of terrain being put in peoples hands right now im fairly certain they'll want to put out "samples" in the starters to get people to complete a whole killzone of that variety

I wonder if they will put any Ryza STC ruins in a starter set? The modularity of the slide in and out terrain was a big plus for me...
Anyways, I'm here to ask a favour to anyone with photoshop/any editing skills or a comouter: it seems to me that the Mechanicus Starter set play tile can be perfectly rotated or flipped to have a full 60" x 44" board with no ugly mismatch parts if you combine 4 together...
If this is the case, using a online discount store you can have a nearly 6ft x 4ft play area with enough terrain to easily fill it for around £150. An absolute bargain!

And no, it can't be rotated to join up.
Sell the boards to people who already have mechanicum terrain from SW:A and buy a 6x4 mat.

Assuming that drbored's info is correct and GW keep with the pattern of two Kill team sets and a Killzone box per theme, what's left after the Deathworld stuff? Killzone battlefield using the Wall of Martyrs or Tidewall kits? A demon world Killzone using the Feculent Gnarlmaw along with some of the generic and fantasy sets could be possible. But would probably be best left for any Chaos and Grey knight sets.

I have seen a Plague World Killzone mentioned, which would use the Nurgle tree I should think. Death Guard vs.... I wanna say Exodites... maybe Craftworlders?
I could also see a Killzone: Defense line too.

Two side by side pretty much lines up but not the 2x2 arrangement that DM was looking for.
Four of the imperialis (side without the eagle) is the closest to making that work.
I stand by my suggestion - sell the boards and buy a mat.
