Not from my point of view. I can get a baneblade for less than a hundred dollars.
Nice model though, and it would make an interesting IG superheavy.

These can be found online for about the same price as a baneblade. The "Karl" is about the same size as a baneblade. The "Dora" is a rail road mounted supergun and is like 3 feet long. I bought a Karl for about $80.00 shipped on ebay. I'm making a few minor conversions and I plan to use it as a heavy bombard for Apoc games. $80.00 is still cheaper than the forgeworld bombard model.

You sure that's the same kit? The original poster must have done a barrel swap at least, and the railings look different.

I am not suprised.
That is a whole different kit. Dora is a railway gun, much much bigger, and its 1:35!
That model kit represents a gun 30% more massive than a Warlord titan.
See how big the model is:

Had looked once at a completed Dora in 1/35 on a modelling convention.
The biggest guns showed there were some 1/16 or 1/8 variants (pics only, some of them longer than your car).

There are a few different variants out there by at least two different companies. Thor, Karl, Loki. They are essentially the same model with different barrel lenghts and a difference in some detail depending on the manufacturer. The 1/35 is roughly the same length and width of the plastic baneblade. The rails will need to be cut down in order to look in scale with 28mm minis. 1/35 infantry are of course much larger.
The one I ordered came with a extra lower hull and an extra milled alluminum shell. The shells look great standing on the firing deck next to the crew. They are almost twice as tall as a guardsman and about 3/4 inch in diameter.

At the WarStore, a Baneblade is less than $85 USD after shipping.
At current exchange rates, that thing starts at $100+ USD, and adds $15+ for shipping.
Still, it's a nice piece of kit.

Now THAT is what I would call an Apocalypse game!
Speaking of which, whadday'all think the stats on a beastie like this should be (Apocalypse or 40K, but Apoc seems more appropriate)?
Av 12 open-topped seems harsh for such a big gun, but there's not much protection there. I guess the protection is being in the parking lot surrounded by AA guns and a Fearless guard-duty unit...
As for the blast, it's gotta be the 10" template at S10 AP2 at least. Strength D seems a bit much, but then again Strength D gets handed out like candy to titan weapons, many of which are much smaller than this (turbolaser destructors, I'm lookin' at you!).
Range... jeez, 240"? More?
|

For Dora something
Range 180-600" Strength D, 7" blast. Any model in the centre of the template is hit with d3 Strength D hits. Any model within 8" of the blast radius takes a S4 hit. Fires once every three turns.
And no that is not a representation of Dora

Indirect fire only
range 18-240
10" blast, Str D AP 2
Basically an indirect fire volcano cannon with a minimum range requirement.
Yeah, you'd probably have to go with AV12, open, but with its size, you could give it 2-3 structure points with no trouble.

I've seen the Dora before, I think it was on WIP, I was looking at a post where a guy made it into a 40k looking thing with eagles on it and some other bitz
I like the mortar though.. looks like it would be great for death korps and fit in well with their thud guns and all that stuff.

That looks good for the weapon, and the structure points are a great idea.

Well if you think about it a volcano cannon would make it something akin to a shadowsword without the side sponsons. Not really all that bad. I think since it is a mortar you probably need to count this as a guess range weapon. Use the Storm Lord armor stats including making it open topped.
If you are worried about keeping the rules within reason, you could use the Cannon of Khorne rules from BoLS.

If we're talking about the Dora in 40k terms, how about:
G36-600" SD AP1 Ordnance Apocalypse Barrage(6) Slow
Range is minimum 36", maximum 600" (50 feet)
D strength, AP1 Ordnance of course
Apocalypse Barrage, because it's just massive Area of Effect saturation.
Slow Reload - takes a full turn to reload
Woo-hoo!
