wait wait wait wait... huh..?

You need more AT weapons, the DP, the melta guns are fine, but I think that you'll have a hard time getting those in range.

Aside from that, it looks like an ok list, its a little too vanilla for my taste though

nice the only problem is the DP, it will be zooming ahead of everything and get shot at first.

Why doombolt? It seems a waste on a DP. After all, it has wings. Why not give it warptime or Wind of Chaos instead? Also, is the No mark thing a fluff issue?

Elite

8 x Chosen w/ power weapon, chaos icon, 2 x flamers, 2 x meltaguns and 1 x rhino

Okay, why mix up the flamers and meltas? If you shoot at infantry, you will want to fry it completely. If you shoot at tanks, same thing. The other set of weapons are wasted. Besides, don't you need a Champ to get a power weapon? (been a while since I have glanced over the 'dex)

Troops

10 x Chaos Marines w/ 1 x plasma pistol, ccw's weapons,1 x chaos icon and rhino - Champion w/ plasma pistol and power fist

Distinct nono here. You have a fisted champ, with plasma. Do you want him fried by his own gun? Best to drop it. Oh, and you do know that they come with CCW and BP and Bolters all at the same time, right?

10 x Chaos Marines w/ 2 x plasma guns - Champion w/ plasma pistol and ccw

I supposes it is okay. Plasma squad is so-so. You are paying 30 points for that plasma pistol on the champ. A bit of a waste.

10 x Chaos Marines w/ 1 x rocket launcher - Champion w/ bolt pistol and ccw

Okay, a number of things wrong here. Firstly, a ten man squad sitting back and shooting a rocket launcher is not a good idea. Take havocs if you want that. Secondly, why the champ? If you want better LD, take IoCG.

10 x Chaos Marines w/ 2 x meltaguns - Champion w/ plasma pistol and ccw

Why the plasma? It does not fit with the meltas.

Heavy Support

2 x Vindicators w/ daemonic possession

All good here. I cannot fault you.

This list is then boosted to 2,000 points with:

1 x Chaos Lord w/ terminator armour, twin linked bolter & daemon weapon

An okay choice. Apart from the fact a Prince is better, it is a nice selection.

5 x Terminators w/ 1 x combi weapon, reaper autocannon, 1 x power weapon and 3 x power fists - Champion w/ combi weapon and power weapon

Reapers are stupidly expensive. I would drop it. What combi did you take? Also, the three fists are a tad overkill. They make your 30 point termies expensive. You will want perhaps a single chainfist to help deal with tanks and the like, then pure power weapons. This allows you to slaughter the foe with I4. Also, ever considered MoS?

1 x Defiler w/ havoc launcher

Why the Havoc? It pales in comparison to the Battle cannon.

If you really want to take CSM squads, give them Icons of chaos glory.

extrenm(54) - I played the list the other night against necrons, I have posted a battle report up. Once both vindicators were in range things turned around a lot for the iron warriors.

Shrike78 - AT weapons? The daemon prince has wings, so I'II have no problem getting that in range.

Xav - The daemon prince will be taking cover behind the rhino of the ccw csm's, so it will not be zooming ahead no where.

Tencharlimit

I agree on doombolt and have since changed my mind. I'm either going for warp time or wind of chaos, I think warp time. No mark as Iron Warriors are undivided.

The chosen are sent forward in the rhino, the flamers are cheap and effective plus are assault weapons so I can charge them in. Don't you think shooting at infantry with a flamer is gonig to fry things? lol, while two meltas get one shot each, hmmm. The icon isn't wasted, its useful for re-rolling morale tests and I have terminators in the 2,00 list, plus the other weapons you can only upgrade four of them to additional weapons, so I need them to take wounds. Also I didn't say I had a champ, just a power weapon, which you can have in the codex

Fair point on the champ, especially at 15 pts for a pistol. Yes I know, but based on what you see is what you get rules they're all armed physically with chainsowrds

Plasma pistol on the champ boosts the plasma capabilities of that unit.

Ignore the rocket launcher, it would take it over the 1,500 points. That unit is just vanilla.

Plasma is what I had on the champ when I bundled it with the meltas, plus adds another high strength weapon. S7 ap2 goes well with S8 ap1 IMO.

Yes I agree on the Lord, hence why it was left for the 2,000 point list. Seemed a waste not to included a £12 good looking model.

I think the reaper is ok on the terminators, but is wasted when they get into cc. I took a combi flamer and combi melta, both close range and ideal for terminators. Hmmm I could do with dropping one fist and having three power weapons instead.

I had built the Defiler with the havoc sometime ago, unfortunately I thrown away the spare sprue with the close combat weapon on. Ah well, the Defiler sites at the back and its only 5pts.

tokugawa - That doesn't make sense, so your saying if I want to take csm squads (which I have to) then I should give them chaos icons, for what benefit?

Thanks all for your comments

what he means is that iron warriors dont exist in the current version of the codex. all they are now is vanilla CSM. its the same with all the other non-god specific legions.

AT means anti-tank, i.e the ability your army has to effectively destroy tanks. you have no ranged anti-tank. meltas and your prince all require you to be very close to your opponent to work effectively. tanks, being what they are, will just be able to move away from you while blasting the rest of your army. i suggest that you consider investing in some oblits. they fit your iron warriors fluff and provide you with ranged anti-tank and lots of other utility. i would probably drop the CSM squad with the rocket. defilers arent that good. giving all your squads rhinos when you go up to 2000pts would be better.

lol, know they don't. They only get mentioned once I think in the chaos codex and then one picture of them. Shame really.

Granted about the prince and meltas, however vindicators s10 ordnance weapon I found to be affective if it lands on target. I could perhaps make up an obilt or havoc squad.

I put the rocket launcher by mistake, but I'm keeping the squad.

I've found the defiler to be ok, but tbh I keep it at range due to the long distance on the battle cannon, but in the past it hasn't been the best. I'm not sure on giving them all rhinos, I'd rather use the points else where tbh.

Thanks

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

But you could run 9 oblits. As they are much better than any other Heavy Support choice in the codex.

The quote was from the old codex to give you some insight on the IW, and the way they work, by the way if you want to stick to true IW take a Warsmith I know there is no more rules for them but if its a friendly game it should not be a problem the only thing they have is a servo-arm for 30 pts it acts as a powerfist and at the beginning of your turn if you are in base to base with a vehicle that is Immobilized you can repair it on a 6 on a d6.

Have fun with it, watch your opponent squirm when you drop 9 obliterators, they get that weird "O-Sh!t" face.
