Okay so its good ill give you that.

Command Squad- 5 Marines on bike with Apothecary, with choice of weapon load, and the feel no pain rule.

The problem is, and at least against the players that have fielded this against me is that you cant give the Apoth the storm shield (hes is not a veteran so you cant change his load out) If you get caught in the open with no turbo boost, you have to allocate woulds to him- even ones that may kill him. (ie if you take 5 ap2 hits etc) When he goes down, it knocks the wind out of the uber command squad's sails.

Mr. Kesher, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Can I respectfully point off that it was not a "response" he posted as his was the first post of this thread - unless he was having an argument with himself.

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games.

Right...so, I guess you asking if said command squad is much cop, yes?

Of course it is. FnP is an awesome deal for Marine Bikers. Keeps them in the fight, providing you choose it wisely, 50% longer! Whats not to like?

It is kind of dumb that a Apothecary is a completely seperate character from the rest of the command squad for purposes of buying equipment.

I like how if they would have changed it to any model in the unit may.

I can understand GWs point of view the guy already has a complicated piece of wargear to work with the Narthecium.

At least they didn't put Veterans may purchase bikes and instead put the squad.

I seriously don't think GWs editors understand basic fundamentals of grammar.

Also, it is cheaper to buy a 5 man squad a Razorback + stormshields than a bike. Doesnt give them that T5 but it is pretty kickass.

Here is my unit that I am putting together

5 man Command Squad, 4 powerweapons, 4 stormshields, bikes. 115 +120, +90 = 325 points or 65 per model.

Optionall you can go the cheap route of

5 man combat squad with
4 power weapons, 4 stormshields, razorback = 275

theres his question, if some people stopped being dicks about it the that would help alot.
when someone makes a thread starting like this it stands to reason he is looking for a way of keeping the apoth. alive longer.

im not a marine player, but the best i can suggest is keep him and the command hidden as much as possible.
may be wort keeping them behind a building untill they can get a good charge.
failing that i would suggest some cheap bikes (any) and use them as a meat shield.

I am not sure why you think that it is okay to address people in such a manner, whether in person or "anonymously", on an internet forum but it is not.

Its rude, and even though yeah i guess i didn't ask a question specifically it still makes you look an a-hole.

You may think i'm some dumb teenager or kid who cant make a coherent thought, thats your right to have an opinion- but it isn't you or anyone's place to slam someone just because you cant understand/ comprehend the point I was trying to make. Maybe just ask me what I meant, its simple and effective.

You may even want to re-read the forum rules about such matters.

Now on to what I was saying originally.

The new marine command squad states that they can all take bikes, BUT you can only give the veterans not the Apothecary a storm shield. Which means that AP2/ instakill woulds will have eventually go to the Apothecary thus possibly killing off the feel no pain rule and making them less effective/ kill-able.

I was just asking for confirmation on such matters, as everyone I have played fielding that squad so far has overlooked it.

Kesher, i guess that was the 1st dick you have met on here
try not to take thier crap so personal or you end up wanting to kill them.

ive suggested 1 way, not too good, but i have the same prob.
nob bikers get eavy armour, not sure if the doc can take it since he is no longer a nob.

ah, one of the many downfalls of our beloved series of tubes (or is it more like a truck?) known as the internet. You will have a very difficult time using text to convey irony or humour to anyone not already looking for it.

JD21290, it's a property of the bike that gives him 'eavy armor, not his Nob-iness, yes?

Look at the order in which you make changes to the squad, going down the list of upgrades. you buy X nobz, give them all bikes, give some klaws/big choppas/etc., THEN you take away the choppa of one and give him an 'urty syringe. Voila, Pain Boy w/ bike, armor, the whole shebang.

/me gently places the thread back on it's tracks.

so why would anyone buy a command squad with bikes and then pay all those points to give them storm shields? just turbo boost them, make sure you charge something that's not going to wipe the floor with them, then play it from there. just because one model isn't immune to ap2 shooting doesn't mean it's not a strong unit.

I think I like it RAW.

Kesher, you are correct - the Apothacary cannot purchase a storm shield. I would never advise trying to get a 2+ invul (for one turn) to any unit that expensive. It would be best, in my opinion to put them in a rhino.
