Hi guys,

I'm known as maelstrom, an I've been collecting and painting GW minatures since I first laid eyes on a copy of White Dwarf on a trip to Britain when I was 14. I even own a copy of Rogue Trader. I used to play a lot of 40k and WHFB with a couple of mates back in school. Unluckily, there have been a great many breaks in between, the last one being pretty long as I spent more time with my job than anything else. A few weeks ago, I found Dakka Dakka on the net, saw the minatures and I'm hooked again.
I got out my old paints and found them to be, well, old - and completely dried out, so I went out and bought these fancy new Foundation paints and some new brushes. After tying to paint an old skaven chieftain I found in a box, it looks as if I should see an optician a.s.a.p. - I think I need glasses, just can't make out the details properly. I must be older than I thought I was.

Anyway, I seriously look forward to painting again, and I must say I have seen some absolutely mind-blowing articles with amazing painting and conversion work on Dakka. You guys have a pretty high standard - looks like I can learn a lot. Hope I can find somethng on painting Imperial Fists - they always were my favorites, but yellow isn't the easiest colour to use.

By the way - if anybody from near Mainz in Germany would like to have a friendly game of 40k in the near future - please feel free to contact me!

Welcome to dakka.

Any problems with the painting I'm sure someone will help you get that yellow mix just right.
I always struggle with it if I don't do a horrendous number of layers, but remember Iyanden Yellow is your friend.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. As I said, I haven't been painting for quite a bit ... I'll be posting some pictures on a new thread soon.
