I got carried away researching parts for making cheap stormtroopers, and I came up with a completely differant army idea. I want to create a really weird "Atomic Shogun" armour for a new homebrew Imperial Guard army, only i'm having a little trouble tracking down plastics for it. Simply chopping off Vostroyan's hats and greenstuffing new helmets and shoulderpads would work, but means I MUST use all-lasguns... and I'd really perfer to use pistols and close combat weapons. 'Cause, you know, what's a samurai without a katana? :S

The closest I can think of is using dark elf cosair bodies and legs, with SM scout close combat arms and greenstuffed cadian heads (or maybe ultra-cheap Pig Iron heads). Does anybody have experience with these parts and know if they would work togeather? Alternatively, does anybody know of any other parts or minis that could be converted with minimal effort?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Westwind makes separate Japanese heads.

But Katanas are tough for IG, they're just not a great CC army. Templar rules might work better.

Scout arms on corsair bodies will not work well in my opinion. The scout arms will be much too large.

well tazoc beat me to it, i was gunna say the same thing. space marine parts look obviously huge on IG. I do like your idea, thats deffinetly somthing you dont see often. have you looked at any necromunda minis? they might have some stuff you can "borrow"

@ Kid_Kyoto: I'll look them up... Also, I want to stay slightly fluffy with this, so I'd perfer no counts-as. It will make much more uneven, last-minute-killing-blow tactics, but I think I could win with alot of backup firepower... and Oni-Ogryns, of course.

@ Tazok: Hum, I haven't actually used either before, so thanks for the clearification. I'll avoid doing that.

@ KingCracker: I thought of Necromunda too, but none of the gangs really seem suitable.

...Of course, there is the Batshag insane option that I use FW Death Corps torsos to make some kind of freaky Samurai Marines, because using the Gorgon transport crew you can get a decent 46 torsos for £48... (and no, I'm not nearly rich enough to try this method on Imperial Gaurd, alrough obviously it would be possible.)

Thanks for the imput, guys.

Iiiiiiinteresting~...

...I'd definately look into these guys, but it's more likely I'd only use one or two. They still have rifles stuck to them. :S

Cheers anyhow.
