Subject: Brettonian themed Black Knight *Update*

Here are some pictures of my test model for my Brettonian themed Vampire Counts army Black Knights. Unfortunately the flash washed away a little of the weathering on the model but I still think the photo's still came out pretty good. I would like some feedback on it. Does it look suitably menacing and undead or does it just look like the worlds laziest Brettonian who cannot take care of his armor? If you have any ideas on how to make it look anymore undead I would love to hear some suggestions.
Update - Just added the creepy green glow effect to better communicate that not so fresh undead feeling.

The mounts for the other 9 knights are done just need to finish the riders.

I would have to say it's not rusted enough. He just looks like a knight who likes dull colours. Maybe hack off some limbs and stick skeletal ones on instead?
|
People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

I'd agree, it's a very nice knight, probably pretty realistic considering how dirty a battlefield would be, but not really dead looking. It's great painting, just not undead looking.

Thats awesome, very well done but I have to agree with the others, maybe a few skeleton/zombie parts on the others?
I assume you'll have the Red Duke as your Lord choice, that would be awesome for a Brettonian themed VC army

Well the steeds would all be painted the same way: black with red eyes. I think this will help give the unit a darker quality. Do you think when they are sitting amidst the rest of the army you would think they are undead or just wonder how those guys snuck in? With my Black Knights I am avoiding that skeletal look and veering more towards empty suits of armor. They swore an oath to always serve their lord who just happened to be a vampire. It is the power of that oath just as much as any necromancy that keeps them undead.

Hum, I have to agree with the others. It looks like somebody has been fighting through the dead, not as one... It's really missing that extra little something.
The only way I can think of making your idea effective, -as risky as it is-, is drilling random holes in your models and making it look like they have suffered fatal wounds. Adding "levitating" parts, like a gauntlet with no sleeve, is another idea.

Hey dont listen to them you have achived exactly what you wanted.its not meant to be a zombie!its meant to be the reanimated armour of a knight, the only thing you could do to get it across is like a red glow from the slits in the helm.
i might start fantasy again??????

Very nice. The green effects remind me of this cheesy movie version of Hound of the Baskervilles...
Good creative use of the Brettonian model!
