Hello all you out there on the interweb,

I am a long time lurker and occasional failed poster, so Im hoping this thread goes a bit better than my previous attempts. I have jumped from army to army in my 9 year tenure as a 40k player, and, since I have decided to move from the united states to scotland for graduate school, I have found myself in a precarious position. With the new restrictions on luggage, and the fact that I needed to carry a years worth of stuff across the atlantic with me in two fifty pound bags, I decided that my mounting ork army was to large to make the trip with me(Although a few of them did come with me) and the best way to keep going with my hobby was to start a new army. This new army is going to be CSM.

As I was going through the CSM codex I saw the odd picture of an unknown space marine clad in black and it occurred to me, I ought to start a fallen army. I was already working on a squad of purge and a squad of dark wolves, with some plague marines thrown in for distraction (I like to never finish anything), so I thought a small force, 500 points or so, would be perfect and possible for me to actual attain. So after a bit more research I jotted down some fluff, which I may post if I ever hammer it out sufficiently and wrote up a list:

A warlord with a power weapon

2x 5 man squads Plasma guns and vets with power weapons

5 man Havoc squad with 4x missile launchers

Now it occurred to me that having a warband of this size composed entirely of fallen was unlikely, so I decided to tweak my fluff, the chaos warlord was going to be a fallen chaplain who, after many years, found one of the chapters apocatharies and decided to rebuild his chapter of "loyal" dark angels (Citing the novel Angels of Darkness, Sort of). Basically he hunts real Dark Angels and their successor chapters for gene-seed to build a chapter large enough to travel to the rock and reclaim it from the usurpers who have taken it. Squad vets will be original fallen and squad members will be created from the "gathered" gene-seed. Im working out a way to show which chapters the gene-seed came from, wether it be by stolen equipment, or armor that has been salvaged on the particular model. Im not sure, Im not there yet.

Updates will probably be slow, but regular, and may potentially showcase some of my other finished models.

First round of pictures to follow in the next post.

I like this idea a lot and can't wait to see some conversion work on a chaplain to chaos standards. Do you plan on runing him as just a chaos lord?

Nice idea, the fallen are an interesting unit fluff-wise.

So I got some more done on the chaplain, and started some work on what will be the apothecary/asp. champ w/ power weapon. Sorry about the lighting, the weather in glasgow today was not conducive to a good source of natural light, and my artificial light is not soft.

With the Iron Cross did you do it on the piece, or off of it, then place it on after it mostly dried?

Likin' what I see. Looking forward to see the Chaplain completed and painted.

Sorry for the lapse Ive had some equipment problems, i.e. Camera broke and then my lamp decided to catch on fire (randomly while it was off, stupid scottish electronics. This blog will now be home to all my csm work, because i dont think I get enough done on my small fallen force to justify its own blog. As an aside does anyone know where I can find instructions on how to make a light box (atleast I think that is what its called) for photographing minatures, the scotland sun is nothing if not unpredictable and it gives me difficulty with my photography. Enough words, on to pictures. First up, the fallen.

@ gordino, they are from the possessed set. @Blood: I do my sculpting all on the model, because I have a really hard time transferring anything from another surface to it, and by doing it on the model I know exactly how it will look when it sets. If I was better, i would probably try to do it separately and transfer it.

On to my CSM warband. Right now Im painting up close to 1000 pts, and Im hoping this will be the first army I paint well in its entirety. Ironically it was not until I got into grad school that I had sufficient free time to preform such a task, but I am taking my opportunities. List includes:

2x Rhinos
10x Plague Marines- With the forge world upgraded bodies (I have an awesome fiancee)
9x nurgle CSM, purge themed
10 Deamonettes
Lord- the one in the previous post (He may or may not stay a khorne lord, I love the potential for 17 attacks on the charge, but havent played enough games to know if I can live with the .31 chance that he kills himself (I know that he doesnt actually instantly kill himself, however it seems to me like charging in, wounding yourself and not attacking is a surefire way to commit suicide))

Wow, really nice painting! I like the idea of Combining the Dark angel parts with normal Chaos. The grreen stuff on the Chaplian is really well done! It can really tricky, andthere's a lot of really bad green stuff work out there, but you managed to pull it off. Nice Work.
