*****!!!!!DISCLAIMER!!!!******

This is a GIMMICK army, it's completely absurd and totally abuses the absolutely wonderful new Dark Elf book and should never be intended for serious use, only for fun (and maybe to piss off a couple friends, in the most friendly of ways of course)

Now I realize some of you may have already seen or heard of this list, but I want to be sure everyone understands of its full potential

Death Star!

Lord

Dreadlord w/Blood Armour, Pendent of Kaeleth, Null Talisman x3, Repeater Crossbow, Great Weapon = 291

Heroes

Battle Standard Bearer with Banner of Nagarythe, Heavy Armour, Sea Dragon Cloak, Repeater Crossbow, Great Weapon = 227

Master w/The Guiding Eye, Ring of Hotek, Heavy Armour, Sea Dragon Cloak, Repeater Crossbow, Great Weapon = 152

Master w/Ring of Darkness, Heavy Armour, Sea Dragon Cloak, Repeater Crossbow, Great Weapon = 142

Core

Assassin w/Extra Hand Weapon and Venom Sword = 161

10 Warriors = 60

10 Warriors = 60

10 Warriors = 60

Special

56 Shades w/Bloodshade, Light Armour, and Great Weapons 1082

As you can imagine, all the characters and the assassin go in the massive unit of Shades, which means only THREE deployments! The three Null Talismans on the dreadlord gives the unit MR(3), the Banner of Nagarythe gives them an extra +1 combat res and makes the UNBREAKABLE, The Guiding Eye on the first Master allows them to re-roll their shooting once (all 120 shots per turn), the Ring of Hotek means any spell cast on them will miscast on ANY DOUBLE. The Second Master's Ring of Darkness means all shooting attacks made on the unit are at 1/2 Ballistic Skill. Basically, the unit is...well...the Death Star, completely protected in every way, but still has a minor weakness that could be expointed (T3 Elves with only light armour)

In fact, I plan on using this list a few times just for fun, proxying the models of course with other models (hopefully as many as possible with crossbows), against a couple friends just to see how effective or not it is. I would love to be able to play it against a random opponent though, just for the shock factor of me placing three tiny deployments then saying I'm finished.

Minor problem: You have to deploy your characters before deploying that rather massive scouting unit.

And when everything charges that unit at once, the BSB is the first one dead, and then the rest get run down when everyone picks on the Shades.

Like I said, it can be easily exploited, but is still absurdly powerful until it is

not the best deathstar ive seen
but pretty funny

Please put this on your sig if you know someone, work for someone or are related to someone who suffers from stupidity. Stupidity is real and should be taken seriously. You could be sitting next to a sufferer right now. There is still no known cure for stupidity and sympathy does not help. But we can raise awareness.... 93% won't copy and paste this because they don't know how to copy and paste

So, you essentially have a single super unit of Dark Elves, which can only target a single unit every turn, and will most likely only be able to fire two or three times before the enemy army descends on it en masse and rends it limb from limb?

Is an interesting concept like.

a large unit of knights of khorne, upgrade to chosen and a characer with them.

1,000+ free victory points.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

Didn't you post this exact list on Warseer?

Assuming you are I'll not repeat my lengthy critique posted there, except to point out (again) you have an illegal combination of magic items on your Dreadlord: one model cannot have both the Pendant of Khaeleth and a null talisman, they are both Talismans.

Beyond that, strange, might be interesting, has huge weaknesses against some armies, and will roll others.

As a complete aside, wouldn't that shade unit be insanely expensive? It's almost $250 in shades alone, were you planning on using a plastic kit for the shades, and if so, which one?

Wasnt me, but thought I'd pass along the fun for everyone

Gah, i thought I had fixed all the mistakes, one more thing to do before i use it

Yes, that many shades would be quite expensive, but that's what proxying if for! If I were to buy them, i would probably just kit bash Glade Guard, Corsairs, and Warriors. Or bits order all the pieces i needed. GG for the heads, Corsairs for the bodies (sanded off scales on cloaks), and warriors arms! perfect shades

I saw the list orginally on druchii.net and it seems like a nice "Death Star".

All the things the unit has (in the original list):

-ASF+4 heroes with GW and GW on the shades (all have hatred)
-MR 3+All spells cast miscast on all doubles withing 12"
-100 Armour Piercing shots per turn at BS 4 (or 50 at BS 5)
-1/2 enemy BS and -1 to hit when shootin using BS weapons
- immune to psychology
- one assassin probably with KB gear

To avoid getting combo-charged, all the rest of the points are spent on dark riders/harpies to re-direct and hunt auto hitting warmachines.

Have you/anyone else tried playing the list?

With the galaxy as large as it is the odds of the average guardsmen seeing and fighting a marine or MEQ are relatively slim. Unfortunately the guardsmen in your (and anyone else who plays IG's) army are the REALLY, REALLY LUCKY ones that fight marines ALL the time...

I tried this list out yesterday against Vampire Counts (fixed the illegal Dreadlord swapping Pendent with Crimson Death for the time being)

Vampires are when I would be most worried about seeing as he could start raising deal all over the place negating my shooting.

I wont go into full detail, but 87 of 124 hits later his vampire on dragon was down to one wound and without a dragon and on turn two the Star actually charged the unit the vamp hid into wiping them out and the end of his next turn. Deployment had been someone lucky as when the scrap with the Vamp/GG unit was over I was looking down his entire flank and could have easily used the rest of the game to shoot down every unit as they crumbled but we ended it there (the store was closing )

Actually the list I made up doesnt make them ASF, instead they are Unbreakable.
