First off; greetings! I've browsed this forum several times and I've finally got questions that need some expert/ outside input.
I really like Tzeentch fluff and their units in general. I decided to make myself a mono-tzeentch daemon army.

I purchased from the warstore the following, with some minor army ideas noted:

x8 pink horors, T bolt, icon
x7 pink horrors, T bolt,
x3 flamers
x1 Herald on chariot w/ icon +BoC+daemonic gaze+master of sorcery (master of tzeentch whf model)
x1 Champion of tzeentch (to be my changling, so I have 2x8 horror squads)
x1 Daemon Prince

Any advice for me playing a tzeentch as a whole?

One thing I can't seem to decide on is whether or not I should purchase/ use a Lord of Change or Fateweaver. In small games I won't have the points, and in larger points, it could just end up being a point-sink.

What do you recommend I equip my herald with?

Generally, should I deploy my DP, herald and 1 squad of PHers first?

How should I equip my daemon prince? I was thinking iron hide, daemonic gaze and mark of tzeentch. If I add boon of mutation or breath of chaos; then he comes to 185 or so...which is a lot of points when it only costs 80 base.

With an all tzeentch army, I see assault as a major weakness. Deamon princes and the greater daemons help overcome this in my eye, but I'm not sure what your guy's take on this is.

Thanks for the replies!

If you have the points, get Big Bird. Make sure he only has one head though.

I am about to run a Tzeentch heavy list, though I will still probably run the masque or some other slaanesh stuff just for the pavane to keep assaulters away. I am definitely gonna run Kairos in some runs.

I hear fateweaver is awesome and he looks it too, really free re-rolls to all around.

at least 1 more unit of 3 flamers I recommend. These guys can drop in their unit of 3 and devastate, or you can drop behind another unit, then jump over being jump infantry.

DP with BoC is nasty, get gaze if you have additional points. Hide may also be optional with the mark already improving on the save and many things shooting at a DP will ignore that armor save anyhow.

Screamers can help with Anti-Tank if needed and they are super fast so you can cover a lot of ground near the end game to contest an objective or 2 if you have been pushing hard somewhere else.

As to what to deploy first...dunno exactly, sometimes that will depend on who you are playing and what the mission/board look like. I often like to get my big guys out first so that my scoring units are safer.

How many points you looking to make?

Thanks for the quick replies....

Do you care to expand on why I should take "Big Bird" with only "one head"? Lords of Change have better stat lines, but when you upgrade it to be a powerhouse, it ends up costing around 300 or 330, at which point I would think Fateweaver would be more worth it.

I'll probably make my army around 1500 total.

I'm not a fan of soul grinders; with only 1 piece of armor, all anti tank will be hitting him and all it takes is one lucky lascannon to pop his huge scalding rippling chassi. Anyone else have some answers to my questions?

Another minor one is whether or not the changeling's ability can be used multiple times or only once per turn.

Thanks.

I wasn't really impressed with Fateweaver, free re-rolls all around yes but if he takes an unsaved wound there's a good chance that he'll run for it; and he doesn't actually run, more like "WOAH MAN BYE" and disappears before you can say 'turkey'.

changling = one unit

and while yes fateweaver does have a chance at leaving...it's like this, first he has to fail his save, then fail again, then fail a LD test, c'mon really if you think that's good odds he will be leaving, when can you and I start betting against each other?

Ok, I just don't see it actually limiting the changeling's ability to one a turn, but when the FAQ comes about, I'm sure they'll fix it to one unit a turn.

Noone has any other tips for a daemon player? no advice on how to equip my Daemon prince? Should I get another daemon prince next? Greater Daemon? Soul grinder? More troops/ flamers?

Daemon Prince I like to go Nurgle, with your Tzeencth fighting at range it give you 2+. Noxious Touch mixed with Aura of Decay you pretty much get auto hits with 2+ wounds. When attack vehicles you get double dice for Glance or Pen. If you can make it, I'd go Blue Scribes, they just rock. But you said all Tzeentch. so hmm? Go breath of chaos. Daemonic Gaze. Have you considered getting rid of DP all together and putting in Screamers? Turbo Boost 24 inch move gives it a 3+ cover save. and melta you can take out armor. and put in Fateweaver. You get everything that a tzeenzth DP has for less and more powers. 3+invuln save, twice and leadership test. The downside is if it's close to other units they have to reroll saves too.

If you smell bad, take a shower before playing me. I hate when people devote too much time to something that they can't even shower.

I say that's a good chance because I'd rather not take that risk with a 300+ point cost character.

We can start betting against each other when Sarah Palin becomes president. Not that I think she will. hurr.

I hear ya on not wanting to take the risk, it's just the math does not make it out in favor of losing him.

40% * 40% * 25% is about 4% chance at loss, then again sometimes the dice gods look the other way when rolling.

Plus I would imagine most people would sit him in a unit of horrors anyhow making many more wounds before he even has to be allocated any to attempt this on.

CC of course changes this since he can be picked on there, though with a tzeentch list it is about avoiding this as much as possible.

I personally like the idea of fateweaver and not taking icons simply because it is more chaotic and brings a sense of fun and some additional strategy for me to think about.

another unit of flamers would work well.

screamers kick ass. Great for taking out transports and stranding units quickly.

kairos is great, ok, he may run away once every 25 wounds suffered (i know he hasnt got 20, but thats about an avereage to how many you have to fail) but he really is worth it.
for tzeentch daemons its like gaining FNP.

also, if running kairos its pretty amusing to run a standard LOC too, ok, some say 2 greater daemons is overkill, but it works.

but all in all i would add more horrors.
they are your scoring units and should be high in numbers or highin units.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

+1 on the more horrors my mono list will have at least 30 horrors in it.

daemons rely on troops quite a bit.
my 2,500 list has 20 bloodletters and 35 plaguebearers in it. (5 unts)

Ok. I'll eventually get some more horrors, and I might eventually get a greater daemon.

I HAVE a daemon prince. How should I kit him with the force I have listed? Should I give him mark of T, iron hide and Daemonic gaze; sit back and shoot with the rest of my army? Should I give him breath of chaos and run him up close with my herald?

with the prince try for:

DP - Nurge mark, iron hide, breath of chaos, noxious touch.

thats only 180 points, you then have a MC that will stay put when shot at, and its capable of taking out units simply through shooting, and if needed he can follow it up by assulting aswell.

if you need a strong chracter capable of getting jobs done take skulltaker in a charriot, he will kill most things with ease, and can cause instant death on things like fex's XD

i know they arent tzeentch, but both aregreat units.
if only taking T simply chang the mark on the DP and drop noxious touch.

yeah I really like Breath on DPs if getting mark of Tzeentch, hide might not be needed especially since many heavy weaps will go right through it anyhow. then toss in Gaze and you have a tzeentch death dealer able to hit many models with both the template and gaze hits then if really needed charge in to finish the job

Do you guys think I should get a soul grinder to drop first turn, and start pounding away? I'm just afraid it'll take all the anti tank and get popped too quick

Noone has any other answers to my questions? no ideas?

Usefulness aside, you have to take Screamers. They're just too awesome.
