I'm starting out with a Tau army and since they already have a little anime/mecha feel to them, I wanted to go farther and give them a more samurai/ancient japanese feel that I think goes along well with their mentality.

My paint scheme atm is a adeptus battle gray/scab red combo and I was just looking for suggestions on how to help give my army that 'feel' I'm going for.

GS man. There's nothing like it. Give your battle suits samurai horns.

It's better to simply be an idiot, as no one can call you on it here. -H.B.M.C.

Cap'n Gordino's instant grammar guide:
"This is TOO expensive." "I'm going TO the store, TO get some stuff."
"That is THEIR stuff." "THEY'RE crappy converters."
"I put it over THERE." "I'll go to the store THEN."
"He knows better THAN that." "This is NEW." "Most players KNEW that."

It'd be time consuming but...

Shiny Black Breast Plates and Shin guard areas to simulate the lacquered armor. The shoulder pads and tabard areas could be painted to resemble the corded weaves indicative of the Samurai armor.

Definately the back banners to represent family houses and lords. Don't forget some kind of Lotus Flower Detail or something like it. Something else w/ the helmets..but I'm not sure atm...

Now you got me wanting to do some like this...sigh..

Heh heh glad to inspire.

I was thinking of trying to find some small katanas and similar weapons if I can locate the appropriate bitz. Mabye greenstuff the armor to give it moreof the curve we see in japanese style lamelar armor.

Heh..I was just looking at the models...The unhelmeted ones would be great if you remove the hair and make them all topknots.

Stick them on the shas'o in each squad and all the battle suits.
2 for commanders.

I did one on a model I was working on as a test piece but never finished it and no pics. :(

There are heaps of companies that sell them, just need the appropriate scale.
