So iv mostly always played using Catachan models for my IG, but as iv hate feeling left out of all the cool FW additions and cooler aesthetic of the cadian army i decided to start rebuilding my IG as cadians. So im gonna post the process up here on Dakka for comments and suggestions. So to start i got my a box of cadians and went to work to build a new army. Im still on the fence about Camo designs, im thinking a grey/city fight type of scheme.


First up iv started modeling my HQ Officer...comments and suggestions welcome. I still have some molding seams to scrape off as well.

Pretty sweet, I like the sword. Also, where is that head from?

Otherwise, it looks pretty cool. The head does seem a bit big, but that might just be a trick of the perspective.

Codex Gray with Chaos Black armor.....haven't decided what color for his bandanna (hes not bald in case you thought that, he has a bandanna on his head) Perhaps Blood Red, or a darker red

yeah i know, just doing the initial coloring then ill detail and such.

A quick and surprisingly good way to paint guard is to use flat-ish colour, then was it all in devlan mud. I used it for some of my guard, and it looked pretty good. The model looks pretty good though, a good start.

By the way, are you going to be doing many conversions in your army?

I hope to, as i have a full army of catachans im planning to take my time as i convert over the cadians, which gives me time for fun conversions. Iv toyed with the idea of using all Catachan heads instead of the cadian ones. Cadian armor with lots of headbands and such.

Stil need to base it and do some touchup, as you can tell im not the greatest drybrusher, always looks spotty, not clean and nice like other people are able to achieve.

This guy looks great. The face plus the pose gives the look of this guy just being "on the job"

I like the colour scheme, nice and rugged, not these pansey, hot off the press, 'ooh, theres-mud-under-my fingernails', that-slaneeshii-cultist-touched-me, never-seen-battle cadian 8th (im not a fan of the 8th!)

nice list, but that's like half the heavy weapons i would normally deploy with...and no special weapons in the command squads? just for thoughts, at 1750 i'm running 9 auto cannons(2 squads and 3 in the platoon), 5missile launchers(1 squad and 2 in the platoon), and a lascannon(platoon command squads)...+my tanks...anyways....i like that paint job, cant wait to see a whole platoon painted up. the tanks in that color are gonna look great!

I do agree, i might drop 1 storm trooper and pass around more HW and specials.

and give the armored fist a meltagun since they will get up in the enemy's face, you'll always be in range...

Your stormtroopers cab have 2 special per squad, makes sense to maximize their effectiveness.

Other than that i like the list, lots of troops, and some good heavy armour.

Updated, im thinking of losing the vox casters, which gives me pts for two lascannons in the command squads.

Sarg for my first infantry squad. I really need to try better with the armor highlights, end up looking more like damage....which isnt terrible i guess, but the intent was to try to do the highlight thing instead lol

I still dont think you have enough heavy weapons on the field...any way to fit in another fire support squad? maybe autocannons?

Hmm well i can do that easily if i drop a ST squad. But im thinking 1 squad might not hold too well once i drop it on an objective. I have little xp with stormtroopers, not too sure on their survivability.

Completed Sarg and Leader. Got the first squad all assembled and priming for mass production
