So I'm planning on doing different missions than the norm for the next tournament I run. Curious on people's thoughts on my plans.

All Kill Points used the `Ard Boyz method, iow, HQ 3, Troop 1, all else 2.

Mission one, Take and Hold. Uses the Spearhead deployment, and a single Objective in the center of the table. Scoring is modified to a 6" range instead of the usual 3". If you control the Objective and have more Kill Points you earn a Massacre, Objective and less Kill Points is a Major Victory, if neither player has the Objective then whoever has the most Kill Points earns a Minor Victory.

Mission two, Recon. Uses Pitched Battle deployment, and the goal is to get as many of your Scoring Units into their Deployment Zone. If you have three more Scoring Units in their Deployment Zone than they have in yours then you earn a Massacre. Two more is a Major Victory and one more is a Minor Victory.

Mission three, Bunker Assault. Uses Dawn of War deployment, and each side gets to place a bunker on their side of the table, at least 6" from any table edge. If you manage to get a unit inside their bunker (doesn't have to be scoring) and keep them out of yours, you earn a Massacre. If you destroy their bunker and yours is still standing and unoccupied, you earn a Major Victory. If both bunkers are unoccupied or destroyed, whoever has the most Kill Points earns a Minor Victory.

interesting, in a tournament though, i am bit unsure about the bunker assault one, its certainly interesting, i just think in a tournament it might be too different,

i'd be interested to hear your rational behind that mission??

When you give total control to a computer, it’s only a matter of time before it pulls a Skynet on you and you’re running for your life.

Not any particular rational, just trying to think of new and different things for 5th, which basically came down to recycling old missions from 4th. I agree it is a hard core mission though, not an easy one to get full points on.

As I've talked with people, I think having people try and occupy the enemy bunker's a bit much, if for no other reason than Necrons and Tyranids have no Template weapons that they can use to clear it out and are therefor incapable of doing it at all.

Instead, I'm thinking that when you Destroy the bunker, it becomes an Objective, and holding that Objective earns you the Massacre.

i think the bunker idea would work as long as each player only plays it once. it would screw things up if half the people had to play it 2 times and some people not play it at all.

My experience with 5th ed. thus far is that the bunkers of the 41st millenium are fragile affairs, unlikely to withstand any serious effort to destroy them, which means alot of minor victories, regardless of which side is playing a better game...

We're running a tourney in a few weeks, and we're planning to just use modifications on the existing three scenarios and use those, including the Ard Boyz KP system.

I think that it's early enough in fifth to still be using the main missions.
