I feel all the Victorian looking VC models look like crap, as well as the rest of the vampire models (Except the winged one). I just need a little help finding some conversion ideas or some alternative paint schemes on existing models. Feel free to spam pictures in this thread related or not.

Victorian? They look anything but Victorian vampires. Even the old Vlad and Isabella figures look better than the new ones.Suggestion, go back to the last ed. vamps for your heroes.

I know what you mean, but generally that eighteenth century gothic look is kinda the stereotypical vampire image. But yeh, they have pulled away from that in recent years.

What kind of vampires do you want?

Sorry I've mistaken Gothic and Victorian for a moment, don't know where my mind was. I just don't like any of the GW stuff. I want some more subtle vampires. Just beefy knights or fellows in robes who look like vampires with the right paint job or a few extra bits added. Even just some random heavily armored guy with a helmet on would do it for me at this point. I could just give him a Grave Guard shield and call it a day. I also need a little inspiration on what to do to make something like what I've suggested more "vampiry".

My best tip would be to use heads with receding hairlines or use bald heads and paint the hair on, which I prefer. Gives em the creepy look they need. Also pale skin if you like. Leaving a black sort of eye shadow around the eyes aswell. Basically you could make a model look like a vampire with the head alone.

tbh I can't really see another way since the whole concept of vampires is a kind of gothic image. Hence why their called vampire COUNTS, counts being european nobleman from the gothic periods.

I hate pants.

but you don't see me whinning about it on line.

Have you considered Dark Elf/Eldar heads, they tend to be gaunt and elongated the way I picture vampires looking.

1) Actually, now we have!

2) The vast majority of GW's vampires are, well, pants. Seek in other miniature ranges, unless you think you'll be attending "Official" GW tournaments (NOT most, if not all, Rogue Traders)...

I remember there was a Dogs of War character that could look pretty good as a Vampire. If I remember right he held a sword in his right hand and had it propped against his shoulder. Long hair, very noble looking. I just don't know if it would be closer to soemthing you liked or just "more of the same." I wouldn't think he would require very much conversion work though.

check out other companys. Heresy do some nice vamps.

Heres a cool (and slightly risque) one from Reaper... I've linked rather than posted the pic as it contains white metal nudity!

I second the vote to check out Reaper. They've got vamps that have a decidedly more fantasy feel to them rather than the gothic look (that's historical-gothic, not black-eye-shadow-and-fishnet-stockings-gothic) and might fit what you're looking for. Here's a link to the figure gallery search for vampire, which includes a lot of vampire related stuff. The Warlord line in particular has models that are Heroic 28mm that are chock full of undead goodness! Check out the Necropolis Army for great "counts as" (haha, little pun there) models that are probably cheaper than GW's too.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

To be honest one thing I have never liked about the VC range is the proliferation of bat-winged armor designs and that they generally have hugely out of proportion fangs.I just use regular models and paint them as vampires. Good color scheme and a little conversion can go a long way. For instance, I am making a Brettonian themed VC army and instead of using the GW vampire models I have bought the Brettonian lord with GW and will be painting him with pale greyish skin. I have also converted a vampire on foot just using bits from the Empire and Brettonian range. If you are making a VC army that is in the Empire then just buy the plastic generals kit, make a few conversions, paint to flavor, and presto viola: vampire.

Trust no one! The minute God crapped out the third caveman, a conspiracy was hatched against one of them.
